Coffee@works — Restaurant in Incheon

Going here was one way to effectively kill time at the airport, especially when I had to arrive at twilight for the COVID test and stay there for 8 hours because my flight was in the evening.

I like pleasantly sweet drink so I ordered a hot vanilla latte for 6,000 KRW. The female barista was a quiet type and swift in completing my order. While waiting, I really enjoyed looking around the coffee shop. Its decoration was suitable for the winter season and there were wooden shelves displaying seasonal merch mugs and bottles. The drink was served hot and wrapped in a cute small plastic cup. I thought the festive cup sleeve was beautifully designed and put me in Christmas mood. I stayed for around 30 minutes sipping through the latte. It tasted like any normal well-made vanilla latte so there's no need to elaborate on this aspect.

I am a Korean American visiting my family. I was here to get a coffee while I was waiting for my over-night flight to Amsterdam. I was in line along with others waiting to order. The cashier told me that they are on a break and cut me off from me and others behind me. So, I left the line and was waiting outside the store. What happen next is horrifying. They were keep accepting other customers. So, I asked them why they were not on break. They refused to give me an explanation and denied that they got orders from other customers after I left.

The thing is that they can only speak Korean and just tell Koreans to wait and accept other foreigners. A gentleman who was in front of me saw the same thing. There were other witnesses. Still, they denied the truth that they were lying in front of everyone in the store. It was my first time being ashamed of being able to understand Korean.

Darn it! It was not a good experience a Korean discriminated...

There are plenty of coffee stops in the airport, you can just skip this one. The service was horrible, the front counter stuff was rude. My order number was 1203, when they called my number, I just crabbed my order and the next second, the staff took my order directly from my hand, and told me these are not my order.

I showed her my receipt and she returned my order without an apology, and just turned around and continued doing whatever she was doing.

The payment counter and the pick up counter are very confusing, I was at the wrong counter because I didn't know where I should make the payment. The rude staff showed me the right counter impatiently.
