Located by the side of the sea with amazing views where you can watch various species of waterbirds flying by. The restaurant was clean, cosy and spacious. Food wise, we ordered the Grilled Abalone with Butter, Abalone Porridge, and Abalone Stew. Before the main dishes arrive, they gave us some sides which included an entire fried fish which tasted amazing. It was lightly-fried and the meat inside was soft and sweet. The Abalone with Butter was surprisingly good. It was topped with an entire clove of garlic, and it was actually sweet and mild (we love it so much) unlike the typical strong-tasting garlics we are used. This dish comes in 6 or 10 pcs. As for the stew, for just 15,000 won, there were three abalones, three clams, one flower crab, and two prawns in the soup which was a huge steal. To top it off, it comes with a bowl of rice. The soup has a tinge of spice like what you would expect from kimchi stew. This dish was our overall favourite. The porridge on the other hand caught us a little off-guard when it first arrived as it was slightly green in colour. Despite the colour, the porridge tasted savoury and homely. We realised it might’ve been the essence of the abalone being mixed into the porridge hence the colour. Mixed in also were slices of abalone which added extra sweetness to the porridge. All-in-all it was a wonderful experience, and even more so such hot food in the still chilly spring weather. Do note that it is the restaurant’s policy that each person must order at least one dish each.

Visited Myeongjin on a rainy day. Would say this would be a nice stop to enjoy some hot food and delicious abalone. Welcomed by a male staff who looks like the boss, could speak little English and tried to recommend me the rice or the porridge. I decided to order the rice as it looks more fancy. Wanted to order something else but was wondering the portion of it would be too much so decided to hold on to it until finishing the Stone Pot rice. Have to say it's well executed and it tastes very good. The abalone was very fresh and tasty and the rice was flavourful. I followed the steps to take the rice out of the hot stone and pour little water to the remaining rice in the hot stone and let it simmer. It was pretty good as it turned like a semi porridge state as well as could eat the burnt rice in it. Was quite full but then thought I should order the abalones to try. Too bad the portion was at least for 2 persons and I asked if they could half the serving and they said no. I think this is a common thing happening in Korea where most of the items are pretty big with at least 2 to share for a start. So ended up just having the hot stone pot rice with the banchan small dishes. Was surprised there was a fish that came with it and it was so good there were literally no bones in the entire fish! Very enjoyable and recommended though the location is a little out of the way.

Wow this place just has everything! Super highly recommend for anyone coming to Jeju Firstly, as you drive up to the restaurant, you will pass a village fishing ground along the coast where you may see the haenyeos diving. (We reached around 1pm and they were still there.) Secondly, once you park your car and walk up to the restaurant, you will be greeted warmly and enthusiastically by the cute snack shop owner next to the restaurant. PLEASE JUST BUY EVERYTHING THERE! The yummiest mini orange custard cakes shaped in the jeju dol hareubang statue were such a delight, and the hallabong orange juice were so sweet and we bought many bottles of orange jam which can be used as bread spread or a refreshing drink! We really loved the kindness of the shop owners, even though we couldn’t speak each others’ language but we could still communicate well! And finally, the abalone restaurant itself OMG. We ordered the grilled abalone, stone abalone rice and abalone porridge which were really amazing. I have never had such fresh and yummy abalone before and it even comes with a free serving of mackerel! The entire meal was only 59,000 won for 3 people which is super good value for money! I think this meal will make me want to come back Jeju soon!! Also, there is parking right outside the restaurant which is super convenient!

This place has been my #1 must eat restaurant at Jeju for every visit. It took me 5th trip to be able to finally tried it by purposely arriving on an early flight to Jeju and arrive the restaurant at 9:30 a.m. right when the restaurant opens. I tried three out of four of the menu (basically everything but raw abalone). Then we suddenly realized that all of us should have ordered the number one thing on the menu, the abalone sizzling stone pot rice. Tastes like crab fried rice but way better than you could imagine. The taste is so good so unique you can’t find anywhere else in the world. In my previous trips, I usually arrive there for lunch and it will take 1.5 hours to 2 hours long wait. So avoid lunch time as much as possible. The view of this place is amazing. After you are done with the meal, walk around nearby the restaurant and drive along the coastal road. One of the best coastal road in the world with beautiful clear turquoise water. This is definitely my favorite side of Jeju.

One of our go to in Jeju for abalone. Their menu only consists of a few items, I didn't need to be in too big of a dilemma haha 😆 We got the stone pot abalone rice and grilled abalone. A variety of banchan was provided and also with a portion of grilled mackerel that was free (for more, you gotta pay). Banchan is nice and the mackerel was really crisp and delicious. Stone pot rice was hearty. Cooked with abalone, it was tasty and they even added some corn, carrot, which made it even more tasty and healthy. Add hot water to the stone pot after scooping majority of the rice out, you get to enjoy crispy rice at the end of the meal. Grilled abalone were sweet. They provided butter to go with it but honestly I didn't need it, as it was good enough on its own. Seaweed soup was also not bad. Service was alright, and efficient. Place is like a typical Korean restaurant, nothing fancy. But we be back for the food!

I remember they only have 4 items: abalone rice, abalone porridge, cooked abalone and raw abalone. If you are not an abalone die hard fan and if you cant exactly differentiate if it's top grade abalone, please just order their porridge and especially must order their Abalone Rice! Superb! So just come take your order, leave your telephone number, they will tell you a rough time so u can walk along the coast to take great pics or just sit in one room to enjoy free coffee and ajumma will call around that given time or earlier if there's space. Side dishes including a grilled fish will be served. For the abalone rice 15,000won, take almost all of your rice out and pour the hot water from a kettle into the hot stone bowl. The end product taste superb as well. The cooked abalone 30,000won... I'm that person who can't differentiate if it's A or F grade. I only know that it's... abalone ^^
