Saekdalbadang — Restaurant in Seogwipo-si

Had a set menu seafood dinner for 2 people (120k won, Sep 2024) and it was absolutely delicious and one of the best dinners I ever had. It consisted from a variety of local seafood, a lot of it is fresh/sashimi quality. The amount of food was a lot and we couldn't finish everything, but so nice to try it all. We were lucky to be greeted and served by the mature couple (think they are the owners) and they were very welcoming and kind. I came to Saekdalbadang wanting to try the aged sashimi. The experience was so much more than that!

The set menu for two people was an avalanche of delicious food. We could not finish even half the sashimi course, although we demolished the aged mackerel (which was creamy and meaty, subtly different to fresh sashimi).

The staff were extremely friendly, and used Google translate to explain what each of the dozens of dishes were, and showed us what to eat with what.

I had high expectations based on social media reviews, but this place turned out to be a huge letdown. The food was mediocre at best, and the service was truly disappointing. The owner displayed a rude attitude, and the hall manager seemed completely indifferent. It felt like they were relying more on good marketing than on genuinely good service or food quality.
