Loved the interior and the staff were absolutely fantastic. I also thought the cold jasmine tea was a nice touch, the menu was gorgeous and considering the rather steep prices, I was excited for some high quality Chinese food.
I'm sad to say the food was not up to scratch though. I ordered their garlic fried rice, which the menu proclaimed as their house specialty.
First off, the side dishes. The soup was pure MSG with a bit of egg ribbons on the bottom - pretty shocking. Even the cheapest Chinese restaurants I've been to will have some nice stock with a few veggies and or seafood. The Chinese style kimchi was alright.
The rice itself had some nice 불맛 but the supposedly special garlic turned out to be just cheap garlic flakes sprinkled on top that you can buy wholesale at Costco. Tiny portion.
Seasoning was bland, the rice was extremely dry, almost crunchy, and the meat tasted like burnt, dried out crumbled hamburger patty. No deep flavours, no layers, just generic blandness with a bit of wok hei.
