Egg & Flour — Restaurant in Seoul

This place needs to decide what it wants to be. Does it want to be a fancy restaurant or a in-and-out pasta place. It’s mismatched, it has iPads and paper napkins, cheap chairs and cups, then expensive food items and an expectation that you’ll have a glass of wine each (at 20000 per glass at that) - what if you don’t drink? You can get the non alcoholic wine but it still has to be wine. A drink with your meal perhaps but this is such a weird condition of dining there and had I not been starving I would have left. It was freezing cold, the aircon up high. The waitstaff were nice, the man gave me a blanket which I appreciated. The pasta was nice too (although quite a small serving size and I was still hungry afterwards) and the wine was ok (although I didn’t feel like drinking and it was as aforementioned expensive). Michelin how?! Unfortunately, the reviews checks out. Food was pretty mid from appetisers to entrees to their famed pastas. Pasta itself was good but the sauces were too rich and you get sick of it really quickly. All of which had to be consumed within a 90 min window lol

The best part of our meal was probably the cuttlefish appetiser - very flavourful! The same can’t be said about their bread (oddly served plain with a bit of cheese and giving bland) or their salad (better if it was torched more and seasoned, again giving bland).

Another peculiar thing to note was that they refused to give us a wedge of lemon (for our coke) which seemed like a perfectly reasonable request.

I sincerely appreciate a lot of things the restaurant is trying to do and I feel that the food was good and well prepared. However for the price point I had higher expectations. All food is brought out at once so while we had an appetizer our mains came about 4 minutes later. I also expected cloth napkins at this price point. Lastly not all tables are the same, we were in a corner table so couldn’t see a view. That’s not the restaurants issue, just sharing that so if you make a reservation make sure to request to be near the window. Again the food was good just expected different...
