Enjoyed my visit here. Nice hike up about 1km from Seoul Station area where I was staying. It’s not too far even from Myeongdong, second hotel which I also walked up to cable car, about 1km. The walk was refreshing and a good exercise.
I walked along the fortress wall with views of the city on one side. On the other was the park with great night views as the signage indicated with admiral and kings statues. I continue climbing the wall with stairs which lead you to an open exhibition. Partially covered from the heat and around the corner you’ll see N Seoul Tower. There are rocks and history of the previous gate and walls with history plaques for a self guided tour.
As you continue trekking up, there are twists and turns with many, many stairs. I do not recommend if you have mobility issues. Don’t bring your strollers, lots of stairs. However, there are rest areas for you to take in the views and get your photo ops. As you continue further up even more stairs with slight inclines, more amazing views until you reach the Namsan cable car nearly at the top for even better views for a fee.
Just continue walking and you’ll see the love locks! Oh, man there’s so many! Many rows and rows of love locks. Way more then I can remember the last time I was here.
When you get to the centre courtyard you’ll see N Tower. There are many restaurants and coffee shops. Go in the building to explore the different levels and more amazing views and shops. There are sitting areas and you can rest and see the city skyline. Bring a lock or buy one there to make a wish for you and your loved ones should you choose.
If you have mobility or kids, you can take a bus up to the top and walk maybe 100+ feet and you’re at the courtyard where the action starts. I recommend this route.
Alternatively, you can stand in line to take the cable car up from the bottom near Myeongdong subway Stn (less then 10mins walk). I suggest making a reservation for tickets if you’re taking the cable car up.
First time hiked up solo, week later went with friends and we lined up for over an hr and still had to wait another hr to ride the cable car. We passed. Really nice place to visit and it doesn’t cost anything if you walk up. Great views! A must when in Seoul. Day view pics to come..if I...
Read moreN Seoul Tower is an iconic landmark and a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Seoul. Perched atop Namsan Mountain at an impressive 380 meters above sea level, the tower offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city from its observation deck. Whether you’re visiting during the day or at night, the views are spectacular, with the sprawling metropolis of Seoul stretching out as far as the eye can see.
To reach the tower, visitors should note that private cars are not allowed on the mountain. Instead, you’ll need to take a designated shuttle bus, or walk up from the base. Even if you take the bus, there’s still a short uphill walk from the drop-off point to the tower itself. While the walk isn’t overly long, it can be a bit steep, so be prepared with comfortable shoes. For those who enjoy a bit of adventure, the walking trails through Namsan Park leading up to the tower are a scenic and enjoyable option.
Once at the tower, the journey to the top is enhanced by a unique elevator experience featuring an engaging animation, adding a touch of fun to the ride. This feature is similar to what you might find at other observation decks in South Korea but still feels fresh and entertaining. From the observation deck, you can spot Seoul’s tallest building, the Lotte World Tower, the winding Han River in the distance, and the bustling Myeongdong area directly below. It’s a wonderful way to get a sense of the city’s scale and beauty.
At the base of the tower, there’s a small shopping mall that includes souvenir shops and a variety of eateries, making it a convenient spot to grab a bite to eat or pick up some gifts. The area around the tower is also worth exploring, with scenic walking trails and the famous “Locks of Love” installation, where visitors leave padlocks as a symbol of their affection.
Whether you’re a first-time visitor to Seoul or a returning traveler, N Seoul Tower is a must-see attraction that combines stunning views, cultural charm, and fun experiences, making it a highlight of any trip. Just be sure to plan for the walk and enjoy the journey as much as the...
Read moreWe walked around the premises. We didn't go up to the tower cause it needed a ticket. There's also a cafe near the bus stop! They sell magnets and drinks. There's latte and coffee. The space is very limited. You can take the cable car either 1 way or both ways. Can buy at the ticket counter before boarding. There's a small shop selling love locks. There's also lockers. However, it is very limited. If you are like me, would like to walk around the premises, ensure is a good weather. And you decide to go down the mountain by cable car. Ensure you buy tickets in advance. The ticket counter can only be located at the bottom of the mountain. Went there on a 23 of dec, Monday at 2pm. It's not crowded. At the bottom of the mountain is not that snowing. But you can experience snow on top of the mountain. And it's not that cold based on my opinion. However, winds can be unexpected! Recommend to bring heat pack bfr going up. You can go to the nearest CU to buy packets of hand warmers.
Those gg with children and strollers. Ensure your stroller is light! There's stairs and some places there's only stairs and no slope! If you can secure a lockers that will be great. If not, ensure you have a 2-way ticket for the cable car!
To add on, you can take the bus and stop at city hall and there's the metro and shopping centre. The bus is not for free. There's an express bus and a normal bus. I recommend that you take the cable car up the mountain and take the bus when leaving. However, you have to walk far to board the cable car unless you are driving. I'm not sure about the parking fee, but it's a great experience, experiencing the lift. Very unique! One of the places I recommend to go if you want to see a good view of seoul! Scenery is nicer...
