Located in the basement of a high rise building, the food and service are amazing. We’ve been to a lot of restaurants in Korea at this point but there is something special about the service here. The owner is so welcoming that it feels as if we are returning home to our parents’ house for dinner. We got the original bangyetang (which is just a half chicken) for 10,000 won and the special samgyetang (whole chicken with herbs) for 17,000 won. The meals came with ginseng liquor. If you don’t really like alcohol, you can pour some of it in the soup (we saw some locals doing it) to add more ginseng flavour or if you just want to change the flavour halfway. Be careful not to pour too much since it can be overpowering. The soup itself is pretty delicious without making any modifications though. The meat easily fell off the bone. Even the breast part was not dry and was as soft as the dark meat. They accept credit cards. There is an English menu and the owner provided us with a picture of the English instructions on how to eat the dish. Transfer the chicken to a large plate in advance and eat it cold. Put a little salt and pepper in a small plate and dip it in chicken. There is sticky rice in chicken. If you don’t have enough side dishes, please...
Read moreI wasn't sure if I was going to like Samgyetang, but it turns out I love it. Don't let the medicinal herbs scare you away, it is so tasty! A deliciously mild and hearty chicken soup with amazing sticky rice and banchan. It really puts all other chicken soups to shame. My brother and I are already planning on going back. The restaurant is in the basement (go down the stairs like you're going to the gym, then go towards the back and turn left- look for the chicken sign). The owner is also the nicest person- imagine your favorite auntie but without the prying questions! We were so well...

I was pleasantly surprised how quickly the food came out. The chicken is so tender and the sticky rice beautifully chewy. All the normally tough bits of cartilage were a delicate jelly and utterly delicious. This is such a warm cozy restaurant with great food and welcoming owners. I'm definitely planning a...
