Fantastic North Korea-style food in Abai Village, known for being a small settlement of refugees from North Korea after the war. 속초 청호동 아바이마을에 위치한 50여년 전통의 함경도 음식 전문으로 이 지역에서는 단천식당과 함께 제일 유명하다고 할 수 있다.

아바이마을은 실향민 지역이다 보니 음식점들 메뉴가 함경도 음식으로 거의 비슷하다. 이곳 또한 냉면, 국밥, 순대 등이 메인이며 특히 가릿국밥으로 잘 알려져 있다.

이곳 음식의 맛과 특징을 이야기 하자면 가릿국밥이라는 본연의 맛을 몰라 평하기 어려우나 일단 이곳은 서울 대치동 유명 맛집인 반룡산의 가릿국밥과는 많이 상이하다. 반룡산 국밥은 탕국과 비슷한 맛임에 비해 이곳은 고기국과 콩나물해장국 합친 맛? 의 느낌을 받았다.

순댓국의 경우 맑은 돼지 곰탕 느낌으로 오히려 색다르고 좋았던 느낌이고 오징어순대도 괜찮았다. 문제는 냉면... 새콤달콤한 맛을 좋아하는 분들깨는 잘 맞을지 모르겠으나 정작 본인에게는 단맛이 너무 강해 제일 별로였고 특히 고명으로 올라간 명태회 무침이 특히 달아서 본인에게는 불호의 맛이었다.

냉면 육수를 요청하여 두가지 모두 맛 보았는데 냉육수는 약재 맛과 간장 맛이 느껴졌고 온육수의 경우는 연한 사골육수 맛을 느낄 수 있었다.
