Chiringuito Mi Barquito by Ramonetero — Restaurant in Águilas

OMG. Chiringuito Mi Barquito in one word: Fantástico. We were strolling along the front at Águilas, near to the marina, at around 1pm, looking for a place for a quick bite to eat. We passed by several places, with a few people in each but, were uninspired until we came upon this chiringuito, with a que outside waiting to get a table, (at a restaurant with around 40 tables). Yep, the most popular looking are almost always the best and this was true here. The menu prices are very reasonable. The staff were rushed off their feet but, brilliant with it. After waiting for around 15 minutes, we were seated and served fairly quickly. Four of us had a bowl of mixed cold starter, with crisps, olives, sausage, nuts. Then 3 had a prawn croquette and the other a chorizo. Then 4 had the hamburguesa, which was hand made, gourmet, with bacon and cheddar, served with chips. (As a rule we don't normally go for the burger but, we were all glad that we did, we all said it was probably the best we had ever had). The best restaurant in Aguilas. It's very popular, when we visited it was full of local people all looking very happy and well fed. The place is very large with lots of seating areas so even if it's busy it's worth waiting a bit and you will get a table, there is room for everyone. The food is extremely tasty, the ingredients are super fresh and the dishes are very traditional and typical of this region of Spain. We loved all the dishes we tried, especially the tuna belly but also the grilled octopus and fried anchovies. Super fresh seafood and fish, and simple cooking that let the ingredients shine. The atmosphere is brilliant, it's a happy place where families and groups of friends come to eat, drink, talk and enjoy themselves. Fui con unos amigos a cenar y, como no realizan reservas, tuvimos que esperar por orden de llegada a que nos llamaran para darnos mesa. Ya de primeras me pareció mal que pasaran a cenar a sus “amigos”, o gente que recibe trato de favor, antes que nosotros cuando habían llegado y habían sido apuntados después que nosotros. Bueno, podría llegar a entenderlo y no le dimos importancia a este hecho. Los problemas empezaron en la misma cena. Nos sentaron a las 23h y no nos pidieron nota de las bebidas hasta las 23:20h. Y solo de las bebidas! Además, llevan tal desorganización que, después de habérnoslas servido, vino otro camarero a pedirnos nota de lo mismo. A este último, le dijimos que queríamos pedir ya la comida y diciendo una “vale ahora vengo” no volvió jamás. Unos 20 min más tarde vino otra camarera, nos cogió la comanda de la cena y bueno… nos sirvieron la mitad de lo pedido, todo desordenado, unos platos primero, después algún entrante suelto, unos comían su plato, otros miraban porque tardaron muchísimo en servirles a ellos y lo que ya estaba servido se iba a enfriar…de todo lo que pedimos, tuvimos que echar 4 platos que se les había olvidado servirnos para atrás porque era más tarde de las 00:30h y ya estaban medio cerrando el restaurante y nosotros a medio cenar. Además de todo esto, durante la cena tuvimos que aguantar respuestas con soberbia y malos gestos de alguno de los camareros cuando nosotros no habíamos hecho nada más que reclamar nuestra comanda. Estuvimos más de media hora esperando la cuenta después de haberla pedido más de 4 veces. Deberíamos habernos ido sin pagar porque ya me parecía demasiado todo el desastre… La última sorpresa fue que cuando trajeron la cuenta fue otro desastre, en total nos pretendían cobrar casi 30€ de más. La última camarera que vino lo corrigió rápidamente y me dio la sensación de que era la única persona que sabía lo que hacía trabajando. En resumen, nos fuimos con hambre (nos tuvimos que tomar el postre en otro local cercano ya que no nos lo llegaron ni a ofrecer) y mal atendidos de este local al que no volveré. Para rematar, algunos de los comensales amanecieron con vómitos que comenzaron durante la noche poco después de la cena…veremos si no tiene que ver con la comida del local pero lo dicho.
