After many trips to Tenerife I finally managed to persuade my partner to go on a trip to Gomera in late January. The bus tour was informative but the stop for lunch was a resemblance of first sitting at senior school. Nearly 30 on the trip but expected to sit on 6 tables although there were many many tables vacant. The wine was drinkable but obviously been decanted and the tumblers provided for the wine were so old they had lost their sheen , they were all ready for the recycling. Sadly that was the high point of the lunch. The soup was thick bland green gou, not only did it look inedible it had no taste to it. The judges are still out on the ingredients of the soup. Main course was a minute chicken drumstick which was well cooked with a small amount of spice. Boiled rice, either overcooked or re heated, just fell short of mush and the vegetables were unidentifiable due to being overcooked. Piece de resistance was the children's ice cream portion served with the iconic small plastic spatula. Hungry travellers arrived , hungry travellers left.( Next stop on the tour at National Park did a roaring trade in local cookies). The highlight was the whistling which everyone enjoyed. If I was to recommend the tour of Gomera I would suggest they take their own packed lunch where you can go somewhere...
Read moreUfff...
Read moreMeal in the restaurant was part of organized group trip on La Gomera, so that can be factor why the lunch looked like that. It was not very bad, but rice, vegetables and meat tasted like it was from frozen portions, just warmed up. I don't know much about wine, but spanish guy at our table was laughing, that this is not wine.... For dessert there was some sort of frozen cream from supermarket. Having that clear, I must mention that whistling language presentation was very interesting experience, very nice to see and hear the story of it, the staff was professional and friendly, so maybe when you are there on your own, and choose your own menu, your experience will...
