Having lived here for over 20 years, I have visited many restaurants. My first visit to La Bonita came as an invite to a birthday party. On first impression it was good, the service for drinks was fast. Then came the food, I ordered chicken Tears, having never heard of them before. When they arrived they were hot, but when tasted they were overcooked and dry. I believe the chef must have fallen asleep whilst cooking them. Two others in my group ordered the ‘Black’. What a great find! This beachside restaurant served up delicious food with a quirky, creative menu. I had a burrata salad with walnuts, my husband enjoyed a black bun burger with pulled pork, and I went for the tacos—everything was spot on! The wine was excellent, and the highlight was the coconut cake, which was so good I’m tempted to ask for the recipe!
