Restaurante Solymar — Restaurant in Almuñécar

Exceptional restaurant. We ate here three times throughout our holidays and this was by far the best restaurant we've been to in that area. The menu offers a good selection of fish, meat, rice dishes and some dishes to share. In addition there are changing dishes (sugerancias) and a 3 course menu. Everything we have tasted from salads over fish and meat to the dessert was very fresh, perfectly made and incredibly tasty. Some of our higlights were the grilled dorada, the boquerones, Iberico meat and the tiramisu and the pistaccio cake. Moreover, there is large selection of great (regional) wines. Just ask for recommendations matching your food - they all taste great. What really makes this place special is, besides the amazing food and wines and the beautiful location directly at the beach, is the exceptional staff. Walked in around 9:30 pm no reservation for dinner. Ordered the bbq mussels, sea food paella, lemon tart cake and ricotta cake, as well as some local wine.

Food was all excellent and the paella did not require me to order in advance like many places, even though it’s usually a lunch dish this paella was particularly good compared to those I had previously in Barcelona, Mallorca, and Valencia.

Mussels didn’t have sauce but were very delicious and fresh.

Desert was also very delicious

Restaurante Sol Y Mar is not just a very good restaurant with very good food.. It is a place with lovely people, the greatest service and big smiles. Mama Trini and Papa Paco in the kitchen making all the food from the bottom themselves, and Paco and Mireya making your visit just perfect, by giving you a warm and very good service.

I will reccomend anybody who visit Almuñecar to visit Restaurante Sol Y Mar, and I really reccomend the Gambas Pil Pil, Pescada Mixda and the Patas con huevos y iberico...
