Chiringuito Merendero Arrecife — Restaurant in Altea

I’m a local and have had the worse experience ever in this place. The owner was unbelievable rude to me and my young kids. We asked for a table, he said simply no. Didn’t even look at us. We said why? He said we are full. Fair enough. When we were leaving, a couple who was eating there, seeing me and my two young kids leave told us they were leaving so we could have their table. I went back to inform the owner who had said no previously that there was a couple leaving so we were hoping to get their table. It was late and my kids were hungry. He looked at me in a very bad way and said to me that was not how things are done. I apologised for not understanding what the problem was and he just said to me wait if you want and maybe we give you some food. I was shocked but had little kids hungry and the next food place seemed a long walk distance. My kids were tired. I waited still in shock while he was folding branded tote bags next to me. Wasn’t setting up the table or doing anything to sit us down. Finally I got out of my shock of how rude he was and surreal the situation and said I was leaving. He said ok.

I don’t know how the food was but will never want such a rude owner to have customers and do the same to someone...

Beware of patatas bravas scam!!

We ordered 2 things, a sandwich with tomato&Omelette and patatas bravas.

Pets are welcome and the atmosphere is nice with a beautiful view over the beach and water. The sandwich arrived first and was delicious.

But then the disappointment started: the patatas bravas (8€!) was a couple of crisps topped off with a bit of ketchup and mayonnaise 🤯 we were confused and asked if there was a misunderstanding since we didn’t order crisps but patatas bravas. The waitress told us that these were the „bravas of the house“. Given that this „dish“ costs 8€ we felt pretty scammed and it ruined the experience for us. We didn’t mind paying a bit more for the nice view and atmosphere but 8€ for a bunch of crisps with ketchup and mayonnaise labeled as „patatas bravas“ is the biggest scam we’ve come across in...

Had coffee this morning two young boys as waiter's, absolutely useless the pair of them,had to wait 10minutes to be served Tried to order a crusant and was told we don't have them , tried to order cooked tomato on toast and again was told NO ,my wife tried to order an espresso with a little separate milk , they argued with her and told her she wanted a cortado but she didn't want a cortado she wanted an espresso with separate milk i ordered 2 orange juicies only received one but yes you guessed it i was charged for 2 all in all very very disappointed and i wont be returning.Conversly 150yards away at Cigarro nothing is a problem so take my advice and...
