La Gourmeda — Restaurant in Andratx

We had a dinner at La Gourmeda yesterday for the first time and really enjoyed it!

The restaurant is across the street from port Andratx and the building i rather old, with a large terrace, normally not particularly spectacular... However, the extremely welcoming team of La Gourmeda made it a great place!

The terrace is full of plants flowers and little lights, which create a perfectly cozy atmosphere, like you are sitting in a lavish garden. The tables have a pleasant distance between each other, giving enough privacy, at the same time not feeling too far away.

The team incl. the German owner (we are guessing) are all very friendly, nice and warm. Most of them speak fluent German and English. The service is quick, attentive, humurous, yet keeping a pleasant polite distance. The restaurant was very busy, but it didn't feel like anyone of the waiters was rushing or stressed, just highly efficient.

The menu is offering a selection of international dishes and sushi. You have a good variety of choices, yet not too many. Starters, couple of salads, a soup, few sushi rolls, some pasta dishes, meat and fish. All the offered dishes are nothing new, yet with a great unusual twist to it, may it be Asian or just in a different interpretation. Adding creamy white wine sauces or curry and cashews to pasta may be bothering to the Italians amongst us, but we really loved it!

The fragrant homemade rosemary bread with aioli, olives and olive oil and fleur de sel was really great. Then we had an extremely crunchy and tasty duck roll to share. My wife had a great sea food pasta with the a.m. creamy, lightly spicy sauce, which was great! I had angus beef stroganoff with potatoes with mushrooms, spinach and aspargus and crushed potatoes - the entire mix paired with the dark sauce, the crispy and tender potatoes were great. Meat was crispy fried and with nice flavor - possibly the pieces could have been a tiny bit larger in order for it to keep the roasted aroma, but still be a little bit more medium inside, but this is just a tiny remark.

House wine was great, both white and red - really good value too. The free (probably) homemade limoncello was great at the end. Also the illy espresso was really tasty! There was no more room for desert, even though the menu was tempting.

The check of only around 110€ was a pleasant surprise considering the location, sophistication, portion sizes and taste of the food.

Overall a 5 star experience, we enjoyed the service, the location and the exciting flavours a lot and will sure recommend the restaurant to our friends and come back again ourselves!

We visited La Gourmeda in Port Andratx. The service was excellent and very child-friendly, and the starter was good. Unfortunately, the tuna main course was extremely salty – so salty that I couldn’t get rid of the taste even after drinking a full glass of water. My wife had the lamb – it was fine, New Zealand lamb, but nothing special at all.

Although the staff politely noted my feedback, neither the chef nor the owner came to the table to apologize or even acknowledge the issue. For what we got, the prices are far too high – with tip, we ended up paying over 150 € for a very disappointing experience.

Most of the guests were German, and one might (ironically) think that people let themselves be distracted by the sunshine and the “good vibes” instead of noticing the lack of real culinary quality. Unfortunately, sunshine and atmosphere cannot compensate for poorly prepared food. If the owner is interested, they are welcome to...

Wir waren gestern Abend zu dritt im Restaurant La Gourmeda, wo wir schon oft zu Gast waren. Uns wurde das Restaurant wegen des leckeren Essens empfohlen, und bisher waren wir auch immer sehr zufrieden. Doch leider verlief unser gestriger Besuch alles andere als erfreulich.

Der Abend begann wie gewohnt: Die Reservierung klappte problemlos, und wir wurden freundlich an unseren Tisch gebracht. Das übrige Personal war sehr aufmerksam und fragte regelmäßig, ob alles in Ordnung sei. Allerdings wurde der Abend durch das Verhalten des Chefs, Stefan, stark beeinträchtigt.

Wir hatten drei normale Hauptgerichte inklusive Vorspeisen bestellt. Aufgrund von Allergien fragte eine von uns, ob es möglich wäre, die Kinderportion Nudeln mit Tomatensauce in einer normalen Größe zu erhalten. Statt einer verständnisvollen Reaktion erlebten wir jedoch das Gegenteil: Stefan reagierte abwertend und unfreundlich, indem er herablassend fragte, ob wir auch Malpapier benötigen würden, weil das Gericht von der Kinderkarte stamme. Diese Bemerkung war weder witzig noch angemessen, sondern schlichtweg respektlos. Wir wurden als junge Frauengruppe nicht ernst genommen.

Während des Abends kam Stefan wiederholt an unseren Tisch, um uns zu bedienen, was uns zunehmend unangenehm war. Wir wurden jedes Mal leise, weil es unangenehm war, wenn er an den Tisch kam, und weil wir nicht genau wussten, wie wir auf seine ständigen unangenehmen Kommentare reagieren sollten. Als er bemerkte, dass wir aufhörten zu sprechen, meinte er spöttisch, wir sollten doch ruhig weitersprechen, wenn er da sei. Diese Bemerkungen verstärkten das Gefühl, nicht ernst genommen und respektlos behandelt zu werden.

Unsere Laune war danach verständlicherweise gedämpft, und die Atmosphäre an unserem Tisch wurde zunehmend unangenehmer. Trotz der Bemühungen des freundlichen Personals, uns den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten, konnten wir den Abend nicht mehr genießen. Besonders störend war, dass Stefans Freundin uns später ansprach und fragte, warum wir nicht mehr mit ihm reden wollten. Als wir unsere Kritik äußerten, wurde sie zwar entschuldigt, aber lediglich mit einem Lachen abgetan. Es war offensichtlich, dass die Entschuldigung nicht ernst gemeint war, sondern von einem schelmischen Grinsen begleitet wurde.

Insgesamt haben wir uns im La Gourmeda sehr schlecht behandelt gefühlt. Obwohl wir das Restaurant bisher sehr geschätzt haben, können wir es nach dieser Erfahrung leider nicht mehr weiterempfehlen. Respekt und Kundenfreundlichkeit sollten in jedem Restaurant oberste Priorität haben, und das haben wir hier...
