La Marina — Restaurant in Arenys de Mar

Our Airbnb host recommended La Marina and wow… they did not miss. This was hands down some of the best seafood I’ve ever had—and I’ve eaten my way through Maine, Italy, France, Ireland… you name it. Every single dish was fresh, flavorful, and just done right.

But what truly made this night unforgettable was the people. The service was A+. Warm, attentive, and just genuinely kind. We had our 1.5-year-old daughter with us, and they were so flexible, forgiving, and sweet with her. Not a single side-eye at the mess or noise—just smiles, extra napkins, and zero stress.

There was literally a fishing hook inside the Arroz Caldoso, I bit into it, and nearly swallowed. I asked for the waiter, he and two others workers played it off as a normal occurence, they said the mussels can have hooks in them. I do not recommend this place at all. If you do eat here, be very careful of what you may put into your mouth.

I should have taken a picture of the hook at the time, but I was a little taken aback by the hook in my mouth.

The restaurant seemed to not care at all, my Spanish is not good and I do not speak Catalan, I seemed to be treated without respect because of the language barrier. They offered nothing to compensate for the fishing hook in the meal....

In a village with dozens of fish restaurants, La Marina creates culinary art works. The service is outstanding, with the family owners giving heartfelt advice about the best dishes and accompanying wines, rather than a hard sell of the daily special or the most expensive bottle.

I started with a smooth gazpacho with an almost creamy texture, not the usual grainy tomato purée. We followed with a sepia dish with caramelized balsamic onions that was heavenly. Then we had arroz amb pops de roca, or rice with octopus, which had a more subtle flavor. All delicious.
