La Nona — Restaurant in Arenys de Mar

The most disappointing experience and meal so far in the entire region, and i say this as someone who has worked in, managed and owned restaurants and hospitality establishments in Europe and Asia. The only thing that prevents this review from being one star is the fact that the owners clearly have put a lot of love into the garden and have some beautiful plants. The service was very poor, specifically sadly the female staff members we encountered who were without exception disinterested, rude or both. The seafood pasta was edible, but only just. The pizza was ok, but bland and lacking in love and execution. This is not currently an establishment worth spending your money in by a long way, but with some work on the fundamentals in the kitchen and a serious effort to improve the service and hospitality it may get there eventually. If it was not for the service Ivan provided I would have probably left. For starters the penne was not penne but another type of pasta arrabiata, it was not spicy and unseasoned. Also pasta is always served with grated pecorino or Parmesan, I had to request this. No salt or pepper on the table again request. Wine served in a chiseled glass the type your grandma brings out for water. Pizzeria de referencia. Llevo años yendo y no han bajado nunca la calidad de la comida (los precios sí han subido... pero como todos los restaurantes).

Comida: Pizzas espectaculares caseras, de masa fina pero crujiente, con la proporción de ingredientes muy correcta, sin que sean pizzas pesadas que luego te sientes demasiado lleno/a. Las pastas son abundantes pero muy ricas y caseras también. Los entrantes son grandes, pero muy ricos todos. Además, comentar que las ensaladas están también muy ricas, no son las típicas aburridas y sosas.

Servicio: Muy majos y eficientes, aunque es verdad que hay noches que van un poco desbordados y van lentos. Una cosa que no considero correcta, sin embargo, que si cambias un ingrediente de una pizza (no añadir, sino modificar, por ejemplo, no me pongas cebolla pero ponme champiñones, o cámbiame el bacon por jamón york), te cobran un extra (y bastante caro). Pero bueno, por l demás todo muy bien. Y en cuanto a negativo, comentar que los vinos que sirven a copas (no los que pides como botellas) son especialmente malos. Espero que algún día los cambien porque realmente pagar casi 5€ por una copa de un vino malo no sale a cuenta.

Ambiente: El local es muy bonito, y la terraza muy acogedora. Música de ambiente también muy bien. El problema es que hay veces que hay muchísimo ruido de la gente. Pero es normal, es un sitio de referencia donde van muchos grupos.
