Lovely food, but service hit and miss.

We visited twice while we were staying in Colonia, and the food really is some of the best around. The pasta dishes in particular were just exquisite and felt very authentic Italian.

However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. It’s typically veeeeeeeeery slow (we had to ask 4 times over the space of about half an hour for our bill to be brought at the end of the night). Staff treat you a bit like you’re a nuisance to them, which doesn’t make you feel very welcome.

We saw some tables clearly getting special treatment; the chefs would come out personally to bring them unique dishes no one else would get, and stop to talk to them. No wonder the food took ages to come!

They also have a specials list each night as long as your arm. I feel sorry for the poor manager having to memorise it and recite it off by heart, as excellent a skill as that is. It makes it hard to remember. Surely the point of specials is there aren’t as many as the entire menu?

They do speak English and German so that’s a plus if no one in your party speaks Spanish.

Overall, if you want some good Italian food, then definitely check this out. However, it gets busy so book in advance, and make sure you haven’t got to be anywhere after in a rush, because you won’t make it in time! If you’re in with them, you’ll have a great night as they’ll be very friendly, but don’t be surprised if the service is a little...

What a lovely place!!!! We booked a table for ten only the night before, and although the lovely owner first told us, they are fully booked that night, but then she still managed to get us a table. We came with lots of kids and a baby, they were very kids friendly. The food was amazing, true Italian pasta and pizza. Our pasta came with fresh truffes, the waiters were very attentive and always there when we needed more water or anything else. We had wine, lots of water bottles and some starters and for each of us a dessert, and we were ten people (without the baby) and paid €300. Very reasonable for this high quality of food and that amazing location. We had an awesome sunset view although we were not sitting on the terrace (it was super windy today, so we were happy not being on the terrace). Muchas gracias Mario und an Deine Frau! We just entered for a drink and decided spontanously to have a Pizza as well. Pizza was okay (not bad, neither a highlight). When we asked for the check, the computer/invoice system was broken. Okay, no problem... We wanted to pay in cash anyway. That was not possible. 20min later and after two times asking I went inside to clarify the situation and kindly asked for paying in cash again. The owner got quick-tempered and was yelling at me (from one to another second). I increased my voice as well and told him, that I just want to pay the 2 drinks and 1 Pizza (it's a 2sec mental math calculation... 11 50 + 4,00 + 4,00 ...). He just continued yelling and ran away like a small child. Fortunately, the service lady was still patient and finally taking the money. Summary: Good location, the only problem...
