Best restaurant we have been in Galicia. From the selection of wine to the freshness of the food everything is 5 stars.
The menu is updated everyday based on the produce that has been caught in the day. We came with some food in mind, but the owner advised us on different options based on the freshness and quality they had received that day… it was simply mesmerizing…
We kept it simple: two starters and one main. We had the croquetas of bogavante, which apart from being as good as they sound, they had a top notch fried crunchiness and the cream was extremely silky. Then we continued with the Luras (chipirones / calamari) which had a freshness out of this world… the ink splashed as we were forking them. Finally, the Virrey / Alfonsino doesn’t need a review. A fish hard to find around that lives at least 110m down and feeds itself mainly with seafood…
A truly once in a lifetime experience. I have been in many Michelin adjacent restaurants, and mostly the ego of the chef preponderates over the produce. Casa Rita is just exceptional produce cooked with care in a lovely environment.

Read moreThe food was very nice, with some standouts such as the empanada and the albóndiga de centolla. If you’re prepared to burn through a few euros the wine list is great too, although inexplicably they don’t offer sparkling, rosé or red wines by the glass. In a restaurant full of wine bottles. In Spain. I’d want to have a word with the genius who came up with that idea. Unfortunately, the service was lacking; a few of the staff were ok but the maitre’d must be one of the most dismissive, rude and pretentious individuals on the Iberian peninsula. He was unhelpful with the menu and inflexible with what could be served to more than one person at the table. In conclusion, if I owned the place I’d give the chefs a raise, promote the younger waitress, and take great enjoyment in firing this man within my first hour...
Read moreBeautifully decorated restaurant with excellent quality food with some creative dishes. However, the service is decidedly off - particularly the maitre d - who was dismissive and off hand at best, and bordering on rude on occasion. It feels like they only really look after their regular guests, unfortunately for non locals, which seems very short signed in a small town like Baiona and particularly when you consider the prices of their dishes (not cheap). They don’t offer any red wine by the glass - only still white wine which is odd at best in a Spanish restaurant that has several meat main dishes on their menu. Whilst the food was very good, the experience as a whole was not, we wouldn’t return...
