Sure, I was having an average day due to - reasons - and chancing upon this place was probably unfortunate for both them and me. Them, because I'm going to write this poor review and me because I had to endure the weird vibes emanating from the staff there, particularly with one youngish, big, grubby-looking lad serving there at 2pm today, who had several interactions with us and those interactions became increasingly vibey.
We think it stemmed from an early interaction regarding confusion about speaking to him in English and him not being able to speak English, which was no problem to us of course, as we wouldn't dream of forcing our preferred language in a foreign country and certainly as my missus can speak Spanish as second language to an advanced level as well, but the vibe seemed to turn from here on forth with him persistently asking us unprompted questions in Spanish about wanting ketchup or breadsticks and him weirdly waving said items in front of the child I was with (who was definitely not going to eat the foul looking chicken nug nugs and chips we ordered for him, even with the unappetising lure of these items) He appeared to take every chance he could to be weird and vibey.
A bad vibe can kill a place, things that are tolerable or charming become intolerable and wretched, the decor suddenly appears ridiculous or stupid, the place looks dirtier, the genuinely greasy food look even greasier, the other staff start to appear as allies of weirdo-boy and they become "team weirdo" and the only reason you don't cause a scene is because you're with your family. A domino effect occurs, things go downhill fast, a reputation built over a lifetime will disappear over a short time. A once decent business is demolished in a flash.
Steer clear of this weird place. Greasy food, warm juice, weird vibes. Current rating of 4.1 is beyond belief. Avoid like the...
Read moreWhat a disappointment! The reviews I read were good and the location looked pretty cool so I was really hopeful but the service was terrible (the waitress basically threw the plates and food on the table), the fried fish was pretty tasty (cazón en adobo) but for that price should have been much bigger (it looked more like a half portion) and boy the vegan burger was TERRIBLE (bun was not toasted, the somehow cooked and soggy onions had no seasoning at all and the patty was tasteless despite being curry flavoured. It was also extremely dry as there was no sauce and the one leaf of salad in the burger had a massive vein in it so impossible to chew). RECAP: unfriendly staff, overpriced, food not great, location is pretty VERDICT: disappointing and...
