El Jardí de l'Abadessa — Restaurant in Barcelona

We went in August 2020. First thing to say is the food was lovely, the setting very nice if under-used. End of the good stuff.

The service was pretty shambolic: rude, surly, poorly presented staff (scruffy-worn uniforms and way too many tattoos on show). The waiting staff lied about the wine we were drinking, were slow to respond to complaints and requests and then were short with us when the kitchen was going to close. The entire meal was ruined by them acting like stroppy teenagers, rather than professionals.

After complaining to the management via email, I received a very basic reply which gave only the slightest indication of an apology; and which implied basically "we got your money, adiós"! Unfortunately, in Barcelona (a city famous, or infamous, for terrible service from waiters and restaurants), this is nothing new. Remember, as customers, you are there to make them happy, not the other way around!

Avoid this place. Spend your hard-earned money (this place is far from cheap) elsewhere and avoid being...

The place is wonderful, very in line with the neighborhood: quiet, close to the hill, fashion... You will enjoy both inside area and the outside terrace as it sits in the middle of a garden. It would be a 5 star from this stand point.

Food is sits between 4 and 3: you have quite good dishes (tuna, mong fish or false rissotto) mixed with some disappointments (unbalanced starters).

Service would be a 3 star already: not too friendly, not too effective, but meeting the basic standards.

Price is a 3 to 2 star: far too high for what you get, but I can understand that being the solely restaurant in such wealthy area they don't need to bother.

Don't accept dogs outside for having lunch together. Very rude. They saw us with the dog, they asked us where do we want to sit, we were sitting and then suddenly they told us to separate our dog from us and put him on a corner in the entrance. This is the most crazy thing it has happened to us. We have traveled around europe and it's the first time it happens. We will never stay in a place like that. There were enough tables empty to sit and serve us lunch. We have a very polite and small dog. He is for people that has dogs allergies because he has no hair. No excuses. The restaurant rules are made by a crazy...
