From the moment we descended the stairs, leaving the bustling pizza place above, our experience at ParkingSotano was nothing short of spectacular. Our culinary journey began with Pan brasa con mantequilla ahumada, a delightful starter of bread with smoked butter that set a high bar for what was to come.
The stars of the night were undoubtedly the center cut steaks, with both the Procedencia Alemania / Países Bajos and Procedencia Galicia variants cooked to perfection and bursting with flavors that only true craftsmanship can achieve. The sides were a culinary adventure in themselves: Patatas fritas and Patata graten, puerro y gruyere - the latter being an exquisite blend of grated potatoes with melted gruyere cheese that was simply amazing. The huevos, parmentier de patata y trufa offered a unique taste, though a note for next time might be to request the eggs a bit more cooked to personal preference.
Accompanied by two chimichurri sauces for four people, every bite was enhanced by this incredible addition - a must-try for future visitors. The wine selection, particularly the 5 Finques 2018, complemented our meal beautifully, striking the perfect balance of flavor without being too dry.
Despite an unexpected visit from some flies upon our arrival, the staff's proactive measures and reassurance of an unusual situation handled with a pending exterminator visit, ensured our comfort. A special shoutout to our server, Oscar, whose knowledge and attentiveness greatly enriched our dining experience.
ParkingSotano's open kitchen concept added a unique touch, allowing us to witness the culinary magic unfold. For those initially confused by the pizza facade upstairs, remember, the gem lies below. Just follow the stairs to the right and step into a world of gastronomic delight. ParkingSotano is a must-visit for any food enthusiast looking for an exceptional dining experience. Thank you, ParkingSotano, for an...
Read moreI'm conflicted about this review because I've been coming to both parking pizza and parking sótano for three years now every time I visit Barcelona. However, today, while dinning alone at Parking Sótano, I have to say my disappointment was rather complete. First, the waitress upstairs advised me that I can go to Parking Sótano if I'm ok with eating within the hour. Being alone I figured not a big deal, but when I go in the place is practically empty. Hmmm.
It takes a few minutes for the waiter to come and rather than the friendly staff I'm used to encountering here I'm basically ignored, order taken, and wait for what seemed like a long time for the food to arrive. No bread service offered or preferred, and a generally cold feeling in the place which was NOT what it used to be. I ordered the low country steak and the scalloped potatoes. Both were a miss. The scalloped potatoes were basically MIA as the ramican they serve it in consisted of a giant glob of cheese and onion with hardly any potatoes. Never seen this before. I ordered my steak medium and it arrived very rare so they took it back, heated a plate, and placed it back on so it would finish cooking table side. That's a first.
Not really sure what is happening here but the service, quality control, and general attitude of the staff needs some serious attention. And their prices have also gone up quite a bit. Don't let prior success go to your head. You have a great concept, but I doubt that today's experience is an exception. Get yourselves back on track. Miss the old Parking Sótano and Pizza! Won't be going back this year. Let's see if next year they have improved and gone back to winning service and quality or if it's time to...
Read moreThe restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere with a well-thought-out concept. We were welcomed professionally, and the reservation process was smooth. The interior design shows attention to detail, though some choices could be improved.
We ordered steak, which was cooked to the requested doneness and tasted good. However, the meat was slightly tough. It was still a good piece of meat overall, but not as tender as expected. The potatoes on the side were extremely salty. I usually enjoy salty food, but in this case, it was too much even for me.
The biggest disappointment was the service. The staff were distant and, at times, rude. What seemed to be the restaurant manager also had a rather cold attitude. We ordered two portions of potatoes but were served three. When we pointed out the mistake, we were told that we had ordered three, without any willingness to listen. In situations like this, customer satisfaction should come first. How much does one extra portion of potatoes really cost the restaurant? It would have been more professional to handle it with care.
Another issue was the lighting. The lights were too close to eye level, which created discomfort during the meal. Adjusting the height would make a big difference both visually and functionally.
We paid €130 for four people. The food was decent, especially the steak, but the service quality was far below what we expected from a place like this. No one even asked for a tip at the end, which reflects the experience we had. I will most likely try a different...
