Hi all, as much as I wanted to give this hotel 4 stars there are a few points which prevents me from doing so. 1st: wifi connectivty 2nd: missing store room 3rd: single plastic packages during breakfast
Beside those points the hotel would've gotten 4 stars. Here's a bit more detailed view:
Generally The hotel itself is very good looking and well decorated. Easy to navigate around and find whatever you're searching for. Stairs are a bit small but I never saw anyone use them so being alone, I had plenty of space there. Sun terrace is nice to have, liked sunbathing there. Gym is small but good enough to get a bit of exercise. The equipment is good in quality and all well cleaned. Staff was always friendly and could deal with anything quickly. Despite having highly chlorinated tap water no free bottle water was offered in the rooms. Only at the reception was a water dispenser.
Room: The interior of the room was nice and of good quality, feels being welcome entering. Floor was carpeted in the hallways and wooden floor in the rooms, felt good. The room had only 4 power outlets (if you calculate the one where you have to unplug the desk lamp) and just one per nightstand. No additional USB chargers installed. Too less in my opinion, as I travel with 2 phones and at least one laptop/other electronic device. At least two power outlets per bedside please… Wifi was good most of the time, most… sometimes I had trouble connecting to the wifi or loading simple sides (not streaming anything) this happened at random times during the day, so not necessarily when everyone was using wifi. There was only one wardrobe to put clothes in. And it was only for hanging coats etc. The one shelf in there was already filled with an extra blanket and a pillow. Even if I put those somewhere else the room would not be sufficient (and it would've been pretty high). A small cupboard at the desk did also not provide enough space to put all my clothes in there. So I just stored everything on the unused bed. (was there for 8 days) you might wonder if a glass sink (fully glass except the 4 feet and the tap) is the right choice for material since you can see every scratch that was left by previous visitors or every stain of lime if the furniture was not polished (which it wasnt) but it was one of the best looking sinks I saw in a hotel and it was very functional (like in not to small, you won't splash yourself etc.). The curtains let only very small lights pass, which allowed me to sleep without any issues plus doing naps in the afternoon. Haven't seen that in many. Still shutters ftw. There was no option to put towels somewhere so that they won't be replaced even if you want to reuse them. Questionable with water issues in the area. Solved that by not having my room cleaned.
Breakfast: The breakfast area was very nice to sit in, good ambiente and very comfortable chairs. the size of the breakfast was ok/good considering the size of the hotel. Lots of juices with good quality. The fruits were fresh and very tasty, however unpeeled. Kinda messy to unpeal slices of kiwi to put them in your yoghurt. Low selection on bread but good quality. The fried eggs were perfect every morning but the bacon was only good on two days. On the other it was like put out of the pan when halfway done. Sweet pastries were good, nothing special. Jam, butter etc. was all packed in small plastic packages, common like 15 years ago. But come on, there are better and more enviroment friendly options around.
Overall I enjoyed the stay and if the negative aspects weren't on so critical topics like enviromental protection or wifi it would have gotten 4 stars from me. So if those don't matter to you as much as to me, I fully recommend this...
Read moreIt's a very good hotel lying in a nice street with elegant buildings, carrer Santaló, where there isn't much traffic. The place is therefore relatively quiet. The hotel is very near Travessera de Gràcia, Avenida Diagonal, Barcelona main thoroughfare, and the imposing Plaça Francesc Macià which includes a roundabout in the middle of the stated avenue.||Inside the hotel is cosy and peaceful. At least, I heard hardly any noise so that apparently the building is soundproof and the bedroom windows are well isolated. The room I was allocated was very comfortable so that I was pleased to remain inside for a long time every day; especially the beds are very comfy for their mattresses have the adequate toughness to assure a good sleep. Albeit the bedroom window looks onto the road, the light traffic noise which can be heard wasn't at all disturbing. During the day the room was very well lit up by day light and gay. The bathroom was also nice and comfortable.||The staff members are all kind and friendly, particularly the manageress who works also sometimes at the front desk. The room maids are very helpful indeed and do a very good job.||The breakfast is good and abundant. It's possible for that meal to have several types of health foods and otherwise enough to keep going for several hours. The fresh fruits, for instance, are of a high quality and usually tasty. The pastry is also varied and good. At the same place where breakfast is served, the hotel restaurant, one can likewise have other meals, to wit, lunch and dinner. The relevant menu for those meals includes good dishes. One can choose, among others, a sirloin steak which is usually rather tender. Such a choice entails however the payment of a moderate supplement. The only drawback in that restaurant is that the TV set is normally on at the same time as the music not of a very good quality, by the way, thus bringing about a sort of somewhat awkward mixed-up sounds. Sometimes I begged them to stop the music, to which they had no objection.||By and large therefore that hotel is a recommendable place to stay in Barcelona. The lodging there may certainly contribute to assure the enjoyment of one's stay in the...
Read moreNice hotel, very nearby the Diagonal and some of the iconic places of Barcelona. ||The hotel is in a rather quiet street but with no exceptional view on the surroundings. Rooms are nicely furnished, with in my case a safe, a fridge and an aging TV screen (but offering direct HDMI connection with the cable that I brought with me) that is siting on a nice desk, with too few plugs. For professional travellers, WiFi connectivity is available but not the fastest (low res video sometimes stalls). ||Note that electricity requires to use the card from the hotel, preventing to leave a laptop charging when having dinner, for example. ||Bathroom is convenient with shower, wash bassin, bidet and toilets. Only minus is the fact that the shower is not with a thermostatic valve and that it can take ages to get the first drop of hot water. To be noted the extended provided amenities. ||Breakfast is fair for a 4* hotel, missing freshly baked fried eggs, with bacon that is far from crispy and with missing muesli and less processed cereal and food (for example natural yoghourt is on request). Dinner menu is presenting a decent amount of choice for a fair price.||That hotel has been booked for me by my company (that is located around the corner to Diagonal) and is a...
