Perfect place for elaborated tapas. The service is excellent and the ambient as well. I gave 4 stars and not 5 because some of the dishes weren't as good as the other's.
The best dishes we tasted were: Puerro confitado con olivada - great dish, with surprising taste. Rabo de toro - excellent meat, very tender. Costillas de cerdo ibérico - great meat but I felt it was too small for the price you pay - they could put 2 more pieces. Pan the leche - great dessert, good size for 2 people. Not so sweet so I found that great.
The dishes that didn't exceed our expectations were:
"Patatas Bravas" - They seemed and tasted like the frozen type that you can eat in every "Bar - xino" in town. The Alioli also tasted like they bought it and didn't made it themselves. Definitely wasn't what I expected from a restaurant in this caliber.
"Bomba de la Barceloneta" - wasn't a big portion like regular "Bomba", more like mini bomba, and the taste was just ok. I didn't like that they put exactly the same sauce of the Bravas on Bomba. I expected something different.
"Tomate con burrata de bufala" - the quality of the tomato and de Buffalo cheese was good but there didn't put inough salt and pepperon it so it tasted very flat. The way the treated the tomato is not the best choice for my...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed in Barcelona for two weeks and Tapeo came recommended by a local and a friend who had visited Barcelona before as a must try restaurant. And it didn’t disappoint - I would argue this was the best food we had in Barcelona for less than 100 € between the two of us and our little toddler.
We ordered the bread, flank steak, octopus, ham, sausage with mushrooms, and croquettes and every single item was absolutely delicious. I don’t usually like octopus and even I went in for seconds, that’s how well prepared it was. I would recommend anywhere between four to six items depending on how hungry you are. Having said that, the food comes out super fast so you can always order more if you’re not sure.
The atmosphere is a bit more catered towards couples and is a bit more quiet than other places we visited, but we did see other families with smaller children (though we were the only ones with a toddler and we were a bit more uncomfortable here when he started getting loud). I would say really great location if you are looking for a nice restaurant for date night or even a good night out with friends.
Tip: you can make reservations on their website, which I would highly recommend given how...
Read moreA Hidden Gem in Barcelona – Tapeo
I visited Tapeo for the second time after first discovering it three years ago, and ever since that first meal, I had been longing to return. The food left such a strong impression that it became a must-visit on my next Barcelona trip.
Strangely, there’s always a long queue across the street at El Xampanyet, but honestly, Tapeo offers a far superior culinary experience. The roasted bone marrow with beef tongue and the rabbit tagine with snails are absolutely fantastic — bold, rich, and unforgettable dishes that showcase the kitchen’s creativity and expertise.
Service is warm and attentive, and although it’s a more relaxed spot, I highly recommend making a reservation to avoid disappointment. For dessert, don’t miss the torrija — a superbly delicious way to end the meal.
If I had to name one forgettable item, it would be the fried eggplant, which didn’t quite match the high level of the other dishes. But overall, Tapeo is a true gem, and I’d wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for an outstanding meal...
