Serantes II — Restaurant in Bilbao

We went out looking for a lovely seafood meal and this was not it. We ordered oysters, calamari and a main meal of a 1.2kg lobster. We are English speaking and asked for sides like chips, vegetables, rice etc (anything really) and the boiled lobster came out like this. Tough and unable to cut it with a knife. We then tried to send it back. Staff were rude not wanting to speak to us instead sending out an English speaking waiter who just apologised. They tried to charge us for the lobster even though we sent it back! Then they tried to charge us for two waters when we had only one. We had a person next to us who spoke English and Spanish who then had to intervened to get it resolved. I would not recommend this for an English speaker. I feel sorry the lobster died for this. Excellent restaurant with beautiful food. But had to ask for the bill 3 times. First time the waiter checked the bill just before he placed it on the table, obviously it must have been wrong. Second time the bill was put on the table but it was wrong again. I had had half a bottle of lovely white wine an then ordered a half bottle of lovely Rioja and I just felt the waiter might have thought this fella had alot of wine and I'll charge him more for the first bottle. Third time the bill was correct. Hopefully he was not trying to get a few more euros from me as the food etc was fabulous. I paid the bill and left but still with a little niggling felling that they tried to overcharge me. Go and make your own...

Demasiados errores y nada para subsanar, habiendo gastado 790€ en una mesa de 12:

-En el menú que escogimos incluia "rabas con alioli de chipiron". Trajeron unas rabas con medio limón cortado y sin la salsa. Se lo comentamos y no traían la salsa. Volvimos a decírselo y nos dijeron que la sacaban enseguida. Mucho despues sacaron un alioli de bote que tampoco era lo que figuraba, para entonces ya nos habíamos comido las rabas frias y no tuvieron la decendia de hacer una rebaja o sacar otra tanda de rabas. Nada (Las rabas muy mediocres por cierto. Las he comido mejores en bares de barrio). Estamos hablando de un menú de mas de 57,50 + IVA.

-El menú infantil lo sacaron muy muy tarde. Decirle a un niño de 3 años que ni puede comer mientras el resto ya hemos comido varios platos no es correcto. Siempre se saca antes y así lo pedimos. Pero ni caso.

-Un camarero nos dijo en mal tono sin pedir paso previamente "¡Tienen que dejarme espacio pra que deje los platos!" . Estabamos sentados de frente ¿Qué pretende?¿Qué comamos de lado? Cuando necesite dejar los platos nos lo pide y con gusto nos inclinamos hace un lado si lo necesita.

-Pedimos la 4° botella de vino que nos entraba en el menú y nos dijeron que ya habíamos consumido todas. Luego se dieron cuenta de que no.

Todo detalles que resultaron en una velada de mal gusto, encima de muy cara en relación con la calidad.

La comida nada del otro mundo. Bastante justa. Me cuadraba mas con un menu de 25€, no de 57,50€ + IVA: los chipirones encebollados algo duros, el pil pil cortado, el rato y la carrillera llevaban exactamente la misma salsa, etc.

Lo único bueno, uno de los camareros que nos atendió, que era muy amable.
