El Gaucho del Mar — Restaurant in Capdepera

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! AVOID!!! On holiday and went to eat one evening with my partner only to be ignored while waiting to get seated while other customers waiting in the same line got seated, was given a table at the back of the restaurant out of sight and out of mind. Then waited another 45minutes to have our order taken (not for lack of trying to get someone’s attention). We then managed to finally have our order taken only to then wait another hour to have food brought to us all the while watching customers who had entered before us get served and eat and 45 minutes to have any drinks brought to us. Once the food came out the staff only brought us one meal, after waiting then another 10minutes to get someone’s attention to let them know of the error we had a medium steak brought out to us bearing in mind both orders of stake were to be medium well. After reporting this new issue to a staff member I let them know I would like to pay for what I have been given, but not the new steak which was cooked wrong we had the owner come over to us and try intimidate and abuse us saying how it’s our own fault for the new steak coming wrong and how “this isn’t McDonald’s” the owner and staff did not want to take any accountability for the terrible service and the mistakes made. After spending about 10minutes arguing with the owner on how it does not make sense for me to originally order 2 medium well steaks and to then have 1 of them brought out medium and this is not my fault I paid for one steak dinner and drinks and left all the while listening to the staff members insult us in Spanish we left to continue our evening. I would not return here to eat even if there was millions of euros...

After such an absolutely amazing starter (Antipasto) and lovely initial service from a young waitress (both of which is the only reason I’m giving two stars instead of one), we were looking forward to our steak mains. My partner ordered the T Bone steak which, when asked, was described to him (by whom we assume is the owner) as being served with a hot stone to cook it himself. We ordered a medium-well sirloin for a 10 year old and I ordered the sirloin (rare) with goats cheese. My partners T Bone arrived cooked, was tough and poorly seasoned. For 55€, he could only eat a fraction of what he was served. Our 10 year old’s steak was burnt on the outside and raw in the middle and had a very unpleasant flavour. My steak was completely raw and the huge lump of goats cheese smacked onto it overwhelmed any flavour. Not one single member of wait staff came over to us during our meal to ask how it was or to refresh our drinks and we had to wait at least half an hour for someone to notice us. The manager/owner refused to come directly and kept sending the same poor young waitress over to “deal” with us when we complained. Our bill was eventually slapped down on the table by the owner after 10 minutes of back and forth with a curt “I’ve taken 15% off your bill” - he walked away without speaking to us or giving us a chance to talk to him directly. All in all, we certainly wouldn’t be back - the price we paid, even with the grudgingly given discount, was far too high and despite the one girl who was great the service...

We dined at Gaucho on the Cala Ratjada harbour promenade on Saturday, June 15th, the day we arrived in Mallorca. This dinner was especially important as it was the first time we were seeing my father-in-law after five years. We had a reservation for 5 at 8 PM, but upon arrival, there was no table ready for us. After a bit of a dispute, we finally got seated.We then waited approximately 15 minutes for a menu or someone to take our drink orders. It was only after we asked a waiter that we received menus and were able to order drinks. Unfortunately, the service remained poor throughout the evening, requiring us to repeatedly call for attention to order more drinks.We placed our food order and, despite not ordering starters, the first main course didn’t arrive until after 9 PM—over an hour after we arrived. The mains were served at intervals of about 10 minutes. First came the two squid dishes, which were acceptable but had a disappointingly small amount of squid. Next, about ten minutes later, came the octopus leg with sweet potato and the mixed grill. The octopus presentation was very poor, and the mixed grill was sloppily presented with fries spilled over onto a second plate with a baked potato. The waiter seemed indifferent. The mixed grill was mediocre overall, with the lamb being particularly bad—two rock-hard pieces of gristle with hardly any meat. The final dish, the filet steak, arrived overdone.Overall, it was a very poor dining experience. We will not be returning and cannot recommend Gaucho to anyone. There are many great dining options in the area that are far more worth your time and money.

Cenamos en Gaucho, en el paseo marítimo del puerto de Cala Ratjada, el sábado 15 de junio, el día que llegamos a Mallorca. Esta cena era especialmente importante ya que era la primera vez que veíamos a mi suegro después de cinco años. Teníamos una reserva para 5 a las 8 PM, pero al llegar no había mesa lista para nosotros. Después de una pequeña disputa, finalmente nos sentamos.Luego esperamos aproximadamente 15 minutos para recibir el menú o que alguien tomara nuestro pedido de bebidas. Solo después de preguntar a un camarero recibimos los menús y pudimos pedir bebidas. Desafortunadamente, el servicio siguió siendo malo durante toda la noche, requiriendo que llamáramos repetidamente para pedir más bebidas.Hicimos nuestro pedido de comida y, a pesar de no pedir entrantes, el primer plato principal no llegó hasta después de las 9 PM, más de una hora después de nuestra llegada. Los platos principales se sirvieron a intervalos de unos 10 minutos. Primero llegaron los dos platos de calamares, que eran aceptables pero con una cantidad de calamares decepcionantemente pequeña. Luego, unos diez minutos más tarde, llegó la pierna de pulpo con batata y la parrillada mixta. La presentación del pulpo era muy pobre y la parrillada mixta se presentó de manera descuidada, con las papas fritas derramadas sobre un segundo plato con una papa al horno. Al camarero parecía no importarle. La parrillada mixta era mediocre en general, con el cordero siendo particularmente malo: dos pedazos de cartílago duros como una roca con apenas carne. El último plato, el filete, llegó demasiado hecho.En general, fue una experiencia gastronómica muy pobre. No volveremos y no podemos recomendar Gaucho a nadie. Hay muchas opciones gastronómicas excelentes en la zona que valen mucho más tu tiempo y dinero.

Wir haben am Samstag, den 15. Juni, im Gaucho an der Hafenpromenade von Cala Ratjada zu Abend gegessen, dem Tag, an dem wir in Mallorca ankamen. Dieses Abendessen war besonders wichtig, da es das erste Mal war, dass wir meinen Schwiegervater nach fünf Jahren wiedersahen. Wir hatten eine Reservierung für 5 Personen um 20 Uhr, aber bei unserer Ankunft war kein Tisch für uns bereit.
