25th and 27th May 2020: The place has not been here long as we later found out and it does show, everything is spotless and well appointed, the decor is just perfect, just the right amount of Kitchen-Diner style, not over trendy and certainly inviting for what looked like good pizzas. So we sat that first evening looking forward to our choice of pizza. I think we both got a Mediterranea one with extra garlic and Rucola and one with extra garlic. The pizzas were looking fabulous and so we tucked in. And they tasted delicious. We seemed to recognise that the pizzaiolo probably used fine polenta instead of flour to prevent the base from sticking, we had ourselves followed such a receipe and it gives that extra bite which we find really good. However we never asked for confirmation. Our penultimate day in the area on 27th had started with bad weather, cool, windy and wet. Our visit to Medina-Sidonia had not worked out to be so pleasant, we got soaking wet, the restaurant was below average and we could not do much else but go back to the hotel. So by 6pm we needed a nice dinner and so we returned to Anca Pizza. This time my partner chose the Pizza del Dia which included some kind of sausage and other ham, again with extra garlic and I chose the Zola e Speck with extra garlic and Rucola of course! Filippo suggested a great mid-range Spanish red wine which accompanied the food to perfection. Sadly I cannot remember the name. I also requested that the pizza was cooked longer since I prefer crispier base. He was delighted to oblige e presto! the Pizzas were magnificent, turning a miserable day into heaven. There are a lot of dinning offers in Conil which really surprised us, Filippo and his team were very attentive and friendly and it was good to see that a few people had already made this place their regular spot and I believe it is well deserved. Prices are honest and the quality of the pizzas is excellent. A place to remember and hopefully to come back to some day. Highly recommended....
Read moreAs a world traveler and a total pizza snob and connoisseur, I can honestly say that this is undoubtedly the very best pizza that you’re going to possibly find in all of Spain.
The dough is fresh, made daily with excellent premium ingredients. Like a good wine, you can definitely taste the terrier of the ingredients in pizza.
The toppings are amazingly fresh as well, retaining their core base flavors throughout the cooking process, and the cheese is genuine Italian mozzarella, never frozen. Trust me, it makes a difference.
Also, this is one of the few places in Spain that uses an authentic Italian pizza oven. The Forni Valoriani is literally the Ferrari of ovens, and a finished pizza is perfect within two minutes. An excellent pizza should never take longer than two minutes to cook ever, especially when prepared by a true artist and cook.
That's what makes a great pizza. Excellent ingredients, properly prepared, the correct tools, an understanding of the skill and talent by a master craftsman, coming together to compliment one another’s flavors.
This is absolutely the very best I've enjoyed...
