Disappointing Experience - Not Up to Michelin Standards

We recently dined at Bo.TiC, and unfortunately, our experience fell far short of what we expected from a two-Michelin-star restaurant. Admittedly, we opted for the à la carte menu instead of the full set menu, as we weren’t particularly hungry. However, the dishes we received were mediocre at best. We ordered the fish of the day and the turbot, and to our disappointment, they were nearly identical dishes—lacking in creativity and flavor, especially at €80 each. Even at €60, these dishes would have been hard to justify, though I understand that Michelin pricing often reflects more than just the food.

The saving grace of the meal was the delightful little snacks at the beginning, particularly the creative presentation with the tree, and the dessert tree at the end. However, these highlights were not enough to salvage the overall experience.

Service was another area where Bo.TiC did not live up to its Michelin reputation. The waiter was unhelpful during the ordering process, offering no guidance or explanations about the dishes. This lack of assistance led to us inadvertently ordering two very similar mains. Additionally, there were several moments where items were dropped or clashed, which detracted from the refined atmosphere one expects at this level.

After discussing the meal with my partner, we agreed that Bo.TiC was worth half a Michelin star at best and ranked at the bottom of our list of Michelin-starred restaurants we’ve visited. It’s disappointing to leave such a review for a restaurant of this caliber, but we felt it necessary to share our...

Our family enjoyed the most amazing dinner at Bo.TiC last night. Everyone on the team couldn’t have been more welcoming if and made us feel at home from the moment we walked in. We loved that we were able to go peek into the kitchen whenever we wanted to. The food itself was exquisite- creative, but always delicious and did not feel gimmicky. Also, we loved the tasting menu we did- it was just the lower level menu- but it was broken up into 4 sections of starters consisting on 3-4 single bite items for each group to start- which was so fun to try. Then came the first and main courses, which were beautifully composed plates- and lastly 3 courses of desserts. My husband and I are foodies and love trying amazing restaurants all over the world- but this was our boys (ages 9 and 13) first high gastronomy experience and it was perfect! My 9 year old is an adventurous eater- and liked most but not all of the flavors, but he did enjoy trying everything. My 13 year old was blown away and wven enjoyed a non-alcoholic rose with his dinner. The dinner took over 3 hours, and the pacing was amazing. The sommelier and wine pairings were also fabulous- we loved how they celebrated so many regional wines and ingredients. The building and garden are beautiful and you can see the care they put into choosing each dish- the truffle butter came in the coolest custom black truffle container. I cannot recommend this...

Bo Tic was a fantastic restaurant and a truly marvelous performance by the chef and the team. It is by far the best one Michelin star restaurant I have been too in a while (or at all) and it's pretty much garenteed that it will be awarded two stars in the next Michelin guide!! The welcome was warm, the building was immaculate and the food was complex, but cleverly often appearing simple in presentation. Modern and traditional cooking methods combine with art and exceptional quality ingredients on the plate. Dishes on the tasting menu we sampled were all well balanced and perfectly executed. The building is stunning and purposely built with a nice ambience, pleasant music, and minimalistic modern design. Having dined at the legendary el buli, el cellar de can roca, Arzak and many other top Spanish restaurants, I can honestly say Bo Tic is working its way to becoming one of Spain's finest. We loved it and it is well worth a visit if you in the area and a detour if your not. Bo Tic was a wonderful experience with a passionate team and friendly service. Highly...

Everything at Bo.Tic was exceptional from the start. The minute we walked in and got a tour of the kitchen to the warm and unpretentious way the hostess welcomed us, to the excellent and attentive staff, made for a memorable experience. Come hungry, it may look like tiny food but it fills you up fast. Every bite we took, transported us to a feeling of familiar nostalgia or evoked a feeling. It was exciting, decadent, wonderful and yet comforting. The food looks like art and they take pride in what they do. The dining room is modern and sparse and the attention to detail is amazing. If you are visiting Girona or Barcelona, make the trip to Bo.Tic and you will be enthralled.
