India House restaurant — Restaurant in Estepona

I have been here couple times and the staff is always friendly and food great. BUT I've changed my mind.

We would go because we always had good (close to authentic) curry. But we went recently and maybe the chef has changed or management? But the food was not good, the spices were too strong in some dishes and should not be. And the drinks are now very very very tiny. We commented that we could not eat one dish because the spices were exceptionally strong, the chef admitted that he used too much Methi by accident, but we were still charged. I ordered lamb biryani, then they said they asked if chicken was okay (presumably no lamb), but then I was charged for lamb biryani 😳

The waiting staff are still nice and friendly. But...

So as a Punjabi girl from London on my own and missing home I came in for a taste of India! The Chilli Panner was amazing and the house spicy green sauce made my night. BUT… unfortunately that’s where it needed. I asked for a Masala Lassi and what I got was full on Ginger chunks and chilli pieces it was not great. I really fancied a spicy butter chicken with a real tandoori Nani. What I got was a sweet butter chicken with red chillies in it which literally wasn’t butter chicken and the tandoori naan I was hoping for was a lachha pranta. Over all they like their ginger and I still miss home did not do the job for...

We had an excellent meal at India House in the evening of 10/05, and will return when we are back in Estespona in September. The restaurant is fairly unassuming in a parade of shops, and the staff are quiet and respectful. The popadums and drinks were excellent. I had a Garlic Chilli Chicken ordered 'Phal Hot' and it was probably the best curry I had during a fortnights holiday and the fried rice had amazing chunks of egg in it. My partner had a Chicken Tikka Massala with Peshwari Naan and loved it to. The bill was one of the most reasonable we experienced, and we were offered a drink to finish...
