I like to try new restaurants! Even if I can eat somewhere where I know that food is great, I tell in my head “let s give it a chance” to a new one. Why not? Now, what I found out here, at “La trattoria di Tony”?
First of all, people were really trying, at least Tony was trying to be nice, but they seemed a bit stressed, especially the waitress. Probably because it’s the end of summer. It was a busy summer, which is why I ended up here in particular. I would always pass by and see the restaurant almost full of customers.
I ordered two pizzas. Not the best pizza, I admit, but definitely not inedible. Would I eat pizza from here again…? The ambiance is pleasant, and the restaurant looks really nice. A pleasant atmosphere in a relatively more expensive location.
Now, about the prices... Expensive, indeed, compared to other restaurants from the area. I gave 4 stars not because of the food, since I only ordered one type of pizza, and if I were to come back, I would probably try something else – they have a huge menu – but I gave 4 stars because of the prices, a bit high for a relatively small pizza. At the same time, I don’t want to be nitpicky, that’s not the purpose of this review, but at the end, the waitress didn’t bring me the bill? She read the price from her phone. It’s never happened to me before that I didn’t see the bill. Quite strange.
The conclusion is that I left a tip because it felt more like I had entered someone's home rather than a restaurant, and I felt relatively good and enjoyed it.
Would I come back to eat again? Definitely not the same...
Read moreRegarding my reviews on Google Maps. Since Google doesn't provide any kind of guidelines on the expectations of what a 5 star rating requires or means that makes it difficult person to person to decipher what "good" or "great" is. Let alone that one persons 3 star rating is another's 5 star experience. That being said. I eat out a lot and at some pretty nice places. I've recently decided to review each place I eat and add pictures. I will comment on the things that are important to me for a restaurant or other establishment to have a high rating. For me the following are important when rating a restaurant.
I hope this makes my reviews more helpful and meaningful to all users.
I just started to visit Spain as a vacation place. Tony's place is wonderful. The pizza menu is never ending with all types of options. The wine list is excellent with some fine Italian wines as well as Spanish ones. Tony and his wife are great chefs and have great specials to add the the pizza menu. Desserts are wonderful as well. Tony is always friendly and...
Read moreFood-wise I was happy since they have vegan options. Grateful for that. But service-wise: I want to share a helpful warning for Black customers. The older man who works there (maybe the owner, I’m not sure?) is extremely oblivious to his racism. He told my 3-year-old son that one day he will be on the beach and the sun will make him more black. He also asked why my husband was more “black” and why I was more “white” (I have a lighter skin tone) and kept harassing my husband about his ethnic background after he told him he was American. A British couple next to our table looked appalled as they overheard the conversation unfold. It was very bizarre and I’m just grateful my 3-year-old didn’t understand what the man meant. While I don’t think he was being malicious, had my son been older, his comments could have really done some damage. The guy needs...
