We went there, my wife and I on August 27, 2022, seduced by the ratings. The location in itself is really very unimpressive (1 out of 5). The service, the quality of the staff (0 out of 5) was appalling from the very beginning (they opened 5 minutes later (8.05 pm). Once seated, we got the menu from a man (where did they find such a lousy communicator (he speaks with just words, a sentence would be too long to articulate considering this man is so incredibly busy, you know. He would not greet us, let alone smile at us (I guess he is not paid for that (maybe it is not in his job description), he would not even look at us when we placed our order. When he brought the dishes, we just got a word (pil-pil, gambones, lenguados). The decision to skip desert and coffee was incredibly easy to make for the two of us. Same experience with the cuenta (not a word, not a look, not a smile, certainly not a "thank you" (the job description must be very clear on that as the ones we interacted with displayed the same behaviours (except for the young lady who served the drinks, she was kind). The food was good, but not exceptional (4 out of 5). I can name 5 restaurants in Estepona and around where the Gambas al pil-pil are better (Chiringuito Paco, Chiringuito La Sal, La Tarantella, La Antigua, Cibo Italiano, La Bulla, ...). The razor clams, the gambones a la plancha and the 3 small soles were correct (again not waouw). We must admit that with an excellent white wine (Jose Parientes - Verdejo at 22 €), the bill was really a good surprise (80 € for the whole meal (5 out of 5). So, if you are just looking for good food and value for money, this is the place for you. If you do care about service and environment, Estepona has got so much...

The seafood is amazing. The fish and the seafood are fresh and there is a wide variety to choose from. The display case is a nice feature. We had to wait for a table, but there are bar tables outside just for people waiting, where you can order drinks and starters from the waiter that comes to you. The bread that was complimentary was slightly stale. If you come late you will have to wait a long time to get seated. The menu is long. Around 80 positions. The prices are fair. If you're coming in a group I recommend getting different dishes to share. The taste of the fried or grilled seafood is incredible. However, this is caused by the freshness and quality of the ingredients. The vast majority of the dishes in the menu are extremely simple, in the contents and the tastes. No sides come with the dishes. The batter for the deep fried seafood and fish is good, yet bland and with little seasoning. Some of the dishes were fried slightly unevenly, like the fried calamari, which could differ from piece to piece, with some of them being chewy while others fried perfectly. Because there are no sides in the dishes themselves I recommend ordering a dish made of vegetables from the entrees. The desserts were very good. The waiters had a lot of work to do and quite rarely came to the table. Their proficiency in English is a lottery but there should be no problems placing your order in. Some of the waiters seem overly hurried, slamming drinks onto the table. The back of the restaurant where the tables are is effectively in a parking lot. While the visit was pleasant, and I'm sure I'll visit again for the fresh seafood; there are things that could be done to make this...

By far the worst food we’ve had in Spain so far. We had Rose wine which was not good. The first course was prawns, very small, cold and not seasoned and without any sauce, had to be peeled, more work than substance. The second one was Anchovis, extremely salty (more than usual), swimming in too of oil. The bread which was served along with was stale, cold and slouchy. The second course was fish, which was in fact good, warm and flaky, but the sides were some tasteless, cold and very pale vegetables, without any seasoning or spices, probably just been boiled sometime back in the forenoon. The dessert was cheese cake, served in a bowl(!), was more of a white mousse than a cake. We went there because of the very good reviews on the internet but were miserably disappointed. We’re definitely not going...

This is a traditional Restaurante Pescadora. Nothing fancy. You walk in and if you are lucky enough to get a table then you will be thrilled. They open around noon but don't think you can walk in at 1pm. And one person can't sit and hold a table for a group to arrive later. You must all arrive together. The queue was out onto the street. Food.. Great fish. Tomato salad con Ajo. Gorgeous. Cost.. Very reasonable. 120€ for 5. Service.. Great servers but so busy it takes a while. Order drinks from oner server and order food from another. Language.. They do their best but if course it helps to try and speak Spanish. Toilets.. One for women.. One for men. Too few. You have to Queue.. Payment.. Cards or cash accepted. Overall.. We will definitely return. We would absolutely recommend this place. Truly Spanish. Go.

If a resident of Estepona from the 1940s was somehow transported to the present day there's not much they would recognise of their town, but Escollera would be a comforting reminder of home. If you want to visit one restaurant for a true taste of Estepona then this should probably be the one. The mussels taste of the sea! Be prepared to wait in line If you come during high season and you haven't booked ahead. (By the way, you can't book ahead because they don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait). It's worth it though. The freshest seafood and incredibly good service regardless of how busy it gets. Fantastic.

Restaurante La Escollera - This place is tucked away in a back street next to the Marina where all the local fisherman have their equipment. So the fish they sell could not be any fresher. Lots of spare tables, when we left an hour later the place was full. So the motto is if you don't want to queue turn up just after they open 1pm for lunch & 8pm for dinner. Food was excellent. The service was very good without being overbearing, prices very reasonable. Old established, though recently refurbished, this fish restaurant is hugely popular with the locals.
