If you're looking for a great service from knowledgeable and friendly staff, this is a great place to start. If you're also looking for some fantastic flavors, it's even better.
We did a 13(?) course tasting menu, and each new plate was a completely different flavor profile and presentation. We were served (to say a few), foie gras, green curry scallop, smoked salmon, mushroom lasagna, peking duck taco, king crab ravioli, angus steak, and an ice cream made from speculoos (Belgian cinnamon biscuit).
While not every item itself was a 5/5, the ones that were deserving of that rating were so exceptionally good that the rest faded away. If I had to pick four favorites, it'd definitely be the smoked salmon, mushroom and parmesan lasagna, hake, and angus steak with truffles.
The smoked salmon was dead simple but fantastically delicious. The sweetness and spiciness of the mustard aioli with the saltiness of the fish was a spectacular combo. The boletus (mushroom) and parmesan lasagna was soft, cheesy, and immensely flavorful. The hake was a definite surprise, and it was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. It was so soft and flaky, the soup cream served with it was exploding with flavor, and the little Iberian ham crisped up and served on top was perfectly salty and a little spicy. The Nebraska Angus steak was cooked to buttery perfection, with a beautiful pink cook and perfect amount of salt. It was juicy and tender, and the mashed potatoes/truffle mixture served with it was a wonderful compliment.
The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, and our server spoke fantastic English and explained all the dishes to us by translating what the chef said on the spot. The staff were also very attentive in terms of checking in on drinks and replacing the plates.
A wonderful elevated experience if you're looking for something a little extra in Estepona! Also, despite the portions looking small, trust me — you're gonna be full when all is...
Read moreKuvo is a very stylish restaurant with the best score in Estepona., We were tempted by the advertised 89 euro culinary journey. But decided to try out a few dishes first and then maybe do the menu on the last night.
The open kitchen provided a window to the meticulous work in presentation. This added to the atmosphere. Full marks there.
The amouche bouche was priced separately. A olive size and colored ball full of liquid that tasted exactly like an olive. No teeth required. The local wine was good.
The dishes we had tasted alright, although mostly in a comfort food way. The exception - Prawn carpaccio tasted like fresh prawns. The raviolis were extremely soft with an interior of a soft blended mousse. No teeth needed. I am not sure if it was intended. The star of the evening was bone marrow. If you haven”t tried this at home you are missing out. All you need is bone pieces and an oven.
I guess the theme of the restaurant is not overshadowing the fresh ingredients with seasoning. For some less is perfect. To be honest I was a bit underwhelmed. The score, website, presentation effort and the high price level promised something in the taste department.
The service to be honest was underwhelming at this price level. The portions were just handed over, the elements were not presented. More drinks / water were not offered. There were no alternatives to a bitter variety of olive oil. When I asked for.some butter it was unapologetically denied. Leaving the restaurant we did not get a reply...
Read moreFamily run fine dining restaurant. It was probably only because of January that I managed to snag the last table in the bistro-style restaurant with a last minute booking. Reservations are highly recommended, especially for the tasting menu, which must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Which I unfortunately missed, next time.
As far as I could see there were only three member team, the wife was serving the guests alone, this did not cause any delays or lack of attention. she kindly suggested from ala carte and pairred it with less known Spanish wines.
The food was superb and just with the right complexity and not to toughfull.
The carpacio was fantastic although I loved the truffles, but now without them it would probably be even more natural. Another starter was ravioli, in perfect harmony with a little udon style pasta. The main course was steak and as the name implies, it was very Urami in flavour. For cheese cake, the description might have promised a little more.
Highly recommended, a unique balance of the cosy atmoshere combined with smile and great food. but bear in mind that we are not in Madrid...
