When you enter Mesón Rias Baixas, the decoration is simple without any level of sophistication until you look better. Don’t go their for the looks but for the flavorful and genuine dishes that will tickles your senses. As a starter, 6 amazing Galician flat oysters. The flavor is profoundly nutty and long lasting. They are exquisite! Please resist using the ailloli until the taste of the oysters fade away. Subsequently, we ordered the Menorca lobster sauted (Lllangosta Salteada). This is not the traditional lobster but the Menorca llagosta without the claws. This was a total surprise, which was so rich on originality and flavors. We licked our fingers. We sat on the terrace and had a fantastic dinner. The anchovies were spectacular - soft and deeply flavorful, the gambas were perfectly cooked, the fried sea anemones were also a surprise hit. We agreed that the grilled Menorca mussels were the best we had ever tasted - perfectly cooked, soft and simply dressed with oil and lemon. We ended with a traditional cheese cake with cheese of Menorca that left us stunned - highly recommended from people who don’t usually love desserts. This is the second time we have visited for lunch and must say that both have been delightful. Traditional Menorcan/Spanish cooking which is among the best we have had on the island is delivered by friendly, helpful and enthusiastic staff. We shared dishes, between 4 of us on the first visit and two on this second. A great way to sample the delights in this menu.
