If I could give this place zero stars I would. Not even worth the one.
Our first visit to Formenterra it was absolutely pouring down, but we did not let that ruin our experience. We decided (as a group of seven) to go and find somewhere nice to eat and drink and stumbled across this restaurant.
I asked if they had a table for seven and was told by the receptionist that they open at 13:00hrs (even though they had people in there eating already) so I said ok we will come back shortly. We waited down the stairs to keep shelter from the pouring rain.
Come 13:00hrs we went back up and asked for a table and the receptionist gave us the menu and told us to have a look and decide what we would like Presuming we couldn’t afford it. We had a look and we didn’t fancy fish, so we asked if we could maybe have a few drinks instead, and they told us we were not allowed drinks and left us in pouring rain. The final straw was when they suggested we could have a few drinks outside only when it was pouring with rain.
We were absolutely shocked and disgusted that they have turned away business considering we have just come through a global pandemic. Not only are we on holiday enjoying a beautiful island we were hoping to put money back in to the Spanish hospitality, especially after speaking to our Spanish villa owner that a lot of businesses had suffered and closed down.
I highly recommend NOT to go here. Very...
Read moreReally really not impressed by this place. Absolute rip off. Out of all the restaurants we went to this was the most unbelievable in terms of pricing. Initially we turned up and I wanted to have fresh fish which is advertised on the menu by the kilo and was told the minimum order was for 2-3 people at whopping €95 Euros per kilo but you had to purchase 1.2Kg! How can you be a fish restaurant and not offer customers the option of purchasing fresh fish for one person??!
In the end my wife had a tomato tartare starter €20 (which she liked) with some bread, I had a the 8 anchovies €18 (which were good but basically can come from a glass jar), followed by a grilled tuna tataki dish (which had this not very nice pineapple sauce) was tiny and cost on outrageous €48 Euros. We had an aperol spritz and coke and the whole thing came to €127 Euros!
The nail in the coffin was unfortunately I had a bout of acute food poising in the evening which I would put down to the fact that it was extremely obvious the tuna wasn't fresh and previously frozen rubbish tuna.
The views are great and the staff were attentive. So attentive in fact that you had the sense they wanted to get you in and out as soon as possible until I made it quite clear that we were going to let our meal settle and didn't need anything until we were ready to order the bill.
I really don't recommend this place and will...
Read moreEs Moli de Sal is situated in a stunning location with breathtaking views that set the stage for what could be an unforgettable dining experience. The food is excellent, with dishes that clearly reflect the use of high-quality ingredients and skilled preparation. However, despite these highlights, our visit was ultimately disappointing.
The prices at Es Moli de Sal are significantly higher than average, which would be understandable if the service matched the setting and the cuisine. Unfortunately, the service fell short. Our experience was dampened by unprofessional behavior from the staff, particularly one employee who, after management had left for the evening, seemed eager to rush us out, being confrontational and even aggressive unacceptable under the cheerful but always friendly circumstances. Being hurried through paying the bill and encouraged to leave at 23:00, a relatively early hour in Spain, left us feeling unwelcome and hurried.
This rushed service overshadowed what had been a wonderful, though expensive, meal. For the premium prices charged, we expected a level of service that simply wasn’t delivered. It’s disappointing that such a beautiful setting and delicious food were marred by this experience. Regrettably, we won’t be returning, specially after paying a 160€ per person bill, and it’s hard to recommend Es Moli de Sal based...
