We went to Restaurant Azul to celebrate our anniversary . Considering August is such a busy time for the town, it is incredibly difficult to find somewhere relaxed and that isn't too busy. The garden at the Tikar is an oasis of calm and tranquility even in busy August and a delightful place to have eaten our wonderful anniversary meal by the pool. The staff are amazing, really helpful and very knowledgable about the wines from the hotel's attached wine shop. Both our wine selections were delicious. The glassware, cutlery, crockery, table cloth and napkins were all immaculately clean and social distancing was perfect between tables. For starters we had the warm duck salad and scrambled eggs...both faultless, and for the mains we both had mouthwateringly juicy steaks accompanied by sautéed potatoes and a delicious oriental vegetable garnish. Desserts were molten chocolate cake (divine) and sautéed bananas..a revelation! All in all the attention to detail, cleanliness, friendliness of the owners and staff were second to none and we will certainly be looking forward to visiting again...there are so many tempting dishes on the menu, I think we will be visiting quite a few times! Highly...

THE GOOD|The suite we stayed in was clean enough, sitting room bedroom and ensuite with air conditioners in both main rooms.|The hotel has a cracking wine shop and a better than decent restaurant which extends to the garden providing a really nice spot for dinner and/or breakfast.||THE BAD|If the pool and a swim is important to you then don't be fooled by clever pics on booking.com. The pool is small and (at least while we were there) filthy and completely unusable.|Also be aware if you buy wine in the hotels wine shop and expect to have it with dinner you will be charged corkage of 6 euros.|I found this a little difficult to swallow because in my opinion I have paid to stay at the hotel. I have bought the wine at the hotel and never removed it from the premises, ergo I didn't expect the corkage.|If I had bought wine from an off licence/super market then fare enough but this is not the case.||SUMMARY |Nice room, good food in nice restaurant setting, filthy and completely...

It was our first time at Tikar Hotel and previous reviews of the dining experience were well justified. Seated outside in the garden at the back of the hotel it was easy to forget where we were. The pool, water feature and greenery added to the peaceful and relaxed vibe of the place. Also at the front of the hotel is a small terrace with tables for smokers. Also a small wine shop just aside from reception with a very nice selection. We had Menu Del Dia lunch at €16.95 each plus drinks. My wife had seafood chowder followed by slow cooked beef with mushroom sauce. I had pate followed by pig cheeks. We both finished off with bananas in rum and cinnamon sauce. The food was exceptional as was the service. It has been one of the best meals we've had since moving to Spain in March this year. We have already booked for dinner next month and we're very much looking forward to it. Well worth a 45 minute drive.

Just outside Garrucha you could easily miss it driving by. A must to eat here where you receive a warm welcome from Sean and his wife. A native American who now lives in Spain. Sean is wine connoisseur who has a wine shop in the hotel/restaurant. The restaurant is tasteful decorated and very nice. We usually eat outside in the garden which has a banana tree and small pool. The food is delicious and a must to eat here. There are music nights and wine tours organised by Sean too. I recommend the seafood chowder as a starter. We have eaten here a few times now and look forward to more. We've not stayed in the hotel though. It's worth booking!
