La Chacra — Restaurant in La Línea de la Concepción

This is my updated review, after going over 40 times there. Sadly, it was a decrease in their food quality and services. This is probably because they have plenty of customers every day. The last two times it was far below the usual standards. On one occasion their secreto burgers were off, smelling and tasting badly. We did not eat them, and highlighted to the waiter that they appeared to be off. The second time it was very bad: they forgot to bring the salads at all, they brought first the chips, 10 minutes before the food, so they obviously went cold. We asked for one portion to be replaced with a hot one (as kids ate the other one) and to be brought with the food. Once again, it was not brought at all. We asked for the steak to be medium, but was brought rare (to blue). We asked to be done a bit more. After 10 minutes was brought back rare to medium. We left half of it on the plate. -10 stars. This Restaurant was highly recommended and so a group of 33 work colleagues decided to go to La Chacra to enjoy an evening of good food. We booked the La Chacra on the 2nd May 2019. On the 4th of June they called us to say that they had another booking on the day that we had chosen 7th June 2019, they offered us the 6th of June which is outrageous as 33 people have already made arrangements for the 7th June. Our booking was longstanding and it was overridden by a booking that was made on the 30th May for a Party of 40. Why didn't they tell them that they were booked and offer them the 6th June?? This is absolutely disgusting that we have been in contact with this Tavern since the beginning of May communicating the days and the amount of people for the booking to be cancelled at the last minute! Due to this lack of business ethics they have now lost 33 plus potential...

The steak we had was excellent. Being cooked over a wood fire gave it a perfect smoky flavor. The boiled potatoes served on the side were absolutely tender and melted in the mouth. However, the way the waiters worked at the restaurant was quite odd. It took a very long time for someone to take our order — yes, it was busy, and I can understand that, but leaving the plates on the corner of the table instead of placing them in front of us was unacceptable. I’m not even going to mention the fact that the server didn’t speak English. It’s strange to be just five minutes away from Gibraltar and not speak English.
