Calù Restaurante — Restaurant in La Oliva

We decided to go there because of the high ratings here in Google and because we read that they were specialized in tartar. As a starter we ordered the Tuna-Carpaccio. It looked good but it was way too warm for a Carpaccio. Then I ordered the Fuerteventura-Salad for 10€ and it was a real bad joke: there was absoluteley no dressing, no salt, no pepper, just nothing. It had like 3 to 4 small tomatoes on it, pieces of industrial taste-less cheese and a bit of onions. My girlfriend had the tuna-tartar (the reason why we went there) with avocado, lime and red pepper. The avocado was hard as a stone! Absolutely unripe! When my girlfried talked to the waiter about it, he replied that it was not the season for avocados and that he could bring her mango instead. In the end we payed 45€ for the worst food we had on Fuerteventura. The restaurant might have a lot of potential because of the location (which was very nice, I have to admit ), but they are not using it at all (or at least they didn‘t when we went). We arrived at the Calù with moderate to high expectations. Situated directly at the sea, with the full moon in the background the ambiente was perfect. The menu is diverse and inviting, prices are above average but acceptable. We waited longer than anticipated to place our first order for drinks. The white wine came warm, but in a cooler. We received our tuna tatars quickly, however our sides were forgotten. Nevertheless, we started eating without cold white wine and sides. The tatars were interesting, even distinguished, although lacking a bit in spices. The staff seemed disinterested, nothing happened without us explicitely asking for it. After some miscomunication, we enjoyed our desserts, which were superb. The bill came after a somewhat long wait, and sadly without a digestive. We were rather disapointed to see our tip was greatly enhanced, suggesting a scam by the server. Overall 3/5, the Calù has great potential, but didn't deliver. Dining at Calu’ in Corralejo was an extraordinary experience that exceeded all my expectations. The cooking is a true work of art and each dish was a masterpiece, with flavors dancing on my mouth. The raw materials are always fresh and chosen with extreme care, their processing simply perfect. The staff is the best!!! Welcoming, attentive with knowledge and passion for the food that they served… they add to the overall exceptional dining experience. The location is changed but for me it’s better than the original. Furnished with care, personality and warmth. In Calu’ there is the imprint of the owner, that has always taken care of everything down to the smallest details. When I’m dining at Calu, I feel as I’m there with good friends and true professionals. Worth not only a visit.. but...
