I came here with a large group and we had a reservation. They said they had a great table for 12 people â but it was only set for 10.
As soon as we sat down, the loud music stood out. We asked if it could be turned down a bit, but that was refused, as it supposedly didnât fit the restaurantâs âvibeâ.
After we ordered drinks and some starters to share, our menus were taken away â even though we hadnât yet ordered mains. We were told weâd get them back when it was time to order.
The drinks arrived, except my Coke was missing. I assumed it would come any minute. Instead, water glasses were slammed down on the table, knocking two over straight away. The wine coolers were also banged down quite forcefully. When the wine drinkers asked for wine glasses, the waitress snapped and asked why they couldnât just use the water glasses â obvious, isnât it? On top of that, the wine wasnât opened, nor were we offered a chance to taste it.
Still no sign of my Coke at this point.
Since there wasnât much space on the bench, someone in our group placed their coat and bag behind them. A waiter immediately came over and said she had to remove them at once â apparently they didnât fit the âstyleâ of the restaurant, and the manager had already complained about it.
Then the starters arrived. Again, carelessly dumped all in one spot on the table, so we had to pass them around ourselves.
At that point, we were already thinking of leaving. One of us finally said enough is enough and suggested we pack up and go. Everything had been slapped down without care, the wine wasnât opened, we werenât given the right glasses, and when I mentioned (yet again) that I still hadnât received my Coke, I was given a stroppy look and asked what I actually wanted. When I replied, âIâd like my Coke,â the waitress rolled her eyes and walked off.
From then on, we had a different waiter â possibly the head waiter. The music was turned down and we were asked every five minutes if everything was okay.
Meanwhile, a customer at the next table also complained.
To top it all off, the food wasnât worth the price.
All in all, this just goes to show â the restaurants along the promenade are a total disaster and a rip-off. If youâre after good service and decent food, best...
Read moreAfter reserving a table for four in-person, we visited last night. Firstly no reservation was found, the staff still managed to accommodate us, but on the outside tables. Drinks and our dinner order were taken quickly. We ordered Cheese board and bread with Olive oil to share, drinks and cheese arrived, bread arrived 20 minutes later, cheese was good but certainly no culinary skill was required to prepare it, disappointed that the starter course couldn't be served together. We were told on arrival that the restaurant was full, whilst sitting outside two other groups were accommodated on tables outside. Having seen excellent reviews on this restaurant we decided to celebrate my son's engagement celebration here, our experience of the restaurant was not so good. Ok the starters were finished, now for the main meal, Pork knuckle, salmon with Gnocchi and oxtail paella đĽ this wait was over one hour, whilst all the accommodated tables around us were being served their food before us, we had nearly given up waiting and were about to leave, dinner was served. I will say the food served had great flavour with all the dishes, but unfortunately everything was cold, Gnocchi and salmon was cold, Paella was flavourful and good crust but again it was cold, pork knuckle was huge and tender, yes you guessed it stone cold. We ate what we could, but the celebration had turned to pure disappointment at this point, it seemed as if we were forgotten and food sat for a long time. Maybe Madre was not in the kitchen on our visit, because there was no AMOR. There were many large groups at the restaurant and this may have hampered or caused the poor service we experienced, Madre will tell you to treat all customers AMOR equally, not just the...
Read moreWent here for early dinner and got three dishes for two adults and a child. The entree is the stack of fries with fried egg on top in the fotos. It was a chips with egg and fried hake and truffle sauce entree. One of the things you need to realise coming to this restaurant is: what is described is exactly what you're getting. No more. No less. So my dish had prawns and garlic and peppers which is exactly what it was. Nothing spectacular but straight to the point. The service was wonderful and really nice. You do have to call them because subtlety is not a thing I have noticed here but that might be a cultural thing. Because after waiting a bit, the moment I actually called them they came right away. So I'm going to say that's just how it's done here and that's not necessarily a bad thing. The 'normal way' seems to be that people get drinks and sit for a while before food comes. We asked for food to come as soon as possible as our toddler needed to go to bed. I was shocked how quickly the food came! (not a bad thing).
All in all, the service was great, the scenery was obviously amazing as it is right on the beach and the food was no frills exactly what you'd expect. A little on the pricier side for the island but nothing you wouldn't expect a beach side restaurant to charge. I'd...
