We found this restaurant randomly and wanted to have a nice dinner with friends. Immediately after entering to this beautiful interior we realised that the reservation is probably needed. The restaurant was not completly full, we got a table without waiting on the first floor. The waiter was helping us with the menu, its in english too, price a bit higher but for what a great food they offer, we still think it was great price for all we had. He ido a cenar. Solo. Estando de paso y sin haberlo planificado. El local es realmente agradable, al igual que la señora de pelo claro que te atiende al entrar. Llego sin reserva pero son amables y me acogen. Me ubican en una gran mesa señorial. Es acogedora y para nada me siento solo ni desplazado. BloodyMary de aperitivo y unas olivas con fuet. Pido pan y no me arrepiento para nada. Esta realmente de escándalo. Es pan pan. Con una miga densa y mullida. De alguien que sabe y conoce el oficio. De entrante un trinxat. Correcto. Según los cánones es un trinxat. Pero a mi paladar le falta algo. Es un poco plano de sabores. Le falta sazón. Un punto más de sal y pimienta para realzar sabores. Sabores que están pero se les nota algo apagados. De segundo un bacalao con pisto de setas. El bacalao es una porción correcta tirando a generosa. Y el pisto cumple la ley. Con algún rosinyol. Pero me pasa lo mismo que con el entrante. Le falta potencia. Como si el cocinero fuese tímido o le diese miedo expresar los sabores que el producto esconde. El bacalao demasiado desalado y algo, un algo muy leve, pasado de cocción. Dos minutos menos y me hubiese encantado. Los sabores están, la técnica es buena, ero falta potenciarlos. Y con miedo pido un postre. Con la experiencia anterior no me atrevo a pedir un postre suave. Y me atrevo con una mouse de Nutela con avellanas, .......bingo!!!!! Es la ostia!! Generoso en cantidad y sobre todo en sabores y matices. Toffee, ahumado, torrefactos, avellana, galleta, me ha sorprendido gratamente. Me ha hecho disfrutar. Deberían plantearse poner al pastelero en los fuegos. Es más atrevido que el cocinero. En general he disfrutado, pero les recomiendo encarecidamente que potencien los sabores. El local lo merece y tiene potencial. Mucho potencial. Realmente solo les falta un pequeño paso para poder decir que tienen una cocina brutal. No obstante...

Can Ventura is a classic restaurant very well known through all La Cerdanya. I truly believe it is a must, but this time we were not fortunate with our choices: cod and steak were Ok, but as good as usual and definitely not meeting the quality expected for the price you pay for them.

Again I still believe it is worth to test it: service is excellent and the 250 years building is worth the visit on itself.
