My wife and I have just returned from 5 nights in Arenal. The first night we were there we tried this taverna, and had the seafood paella with a bottle of house white (rioja, which was really rather lovely). The paella was one of the best I have had; lots of different shellfish, plus other fish. Really flavoursome and a good sized portion for the two of us.
House White was €13 for the bottle Seafood Paella was €16.50 per person, with a minimum of 2 needed to order. Fried anchovies (starter) was about €8 (really good!!!)
The second night, we went elsewhere to eat, and were both left disappointed, so on the third night we returned, with both of us sharing the seafood croquettes, the calamari for myself and the whole seabass for my wife. The calamari was ever so slightly overcooked, but no where near enough to complain, but the seabass was beyond amazing, simple served with herb butter and a salad. All washed down with another bottle of the house white.
Prices were similar each to the first night.
Returning on the 4th night, we changed it up a bit and had a litre of sangria between us, bread, olives and aiolli to start (about €4 each). I then had the pork escalope, and my wife had the calamari. The escalope was cooked to perfection, but the calamari was once again slightly overcooked, but still very tasty.
The last night we went back to the seafood paella, and again, 100% perfect.
The service was slightly different to what we are used to. There was never any rush to get us moved on/out, with the delay in finishing our meals to getting someone's attention for the bill could annoy some, but (let's be honest here), what exactly is there to rush for when on holiday??? Each evening we were greeted by one of the waiting staff who genuinely seemed happy to see us again, and we would have a little chat, even with my very bad Spanish!
We are planning on returning next July to the same hotel, and we will definitely be returning to this cracking...
Read moreI usually don’t write reviews, but I just had to write this one. Being in Mallorca, we had the chance to experience a lot of restaurants, but we definitely chose this one as our safe place. Besides the delicious and tasty food, I just have to compliment the staff. We walked in and immediately felt very welcome. Even though it was a full house, the staff still took their time with our special order and smiled the whole time. It’s one of those things where you just feel well taken care of. They work so hard, and you can see that, but somehow they’re still flying through the tables with smiles and fun like it’s nothing. Compliments and fun, jokes and smiles—they created such a beautiful atmosphere for us. I personally work in customer service, and I know it can get so head-wrecking. That is something so rarely seen. We appreciate the food and the effort from the staff so much. It was the best restaurant experience we had in Mallorca. A big thank you and compliments to the owner—you've got some great staff, keep them. Thank you so much for the beautiful atmosphere; you guys made our vacation so...
Read moreGOOD FOOD AND SERVICE. We ordered a medium grilled beef steak and a medium rare Entrecôte, and it tasted very good. The Entrecôte had a good crust and was juicy. The fries are your typical fries. It’s not good but it’s not horrible.
The service was good. We were there on a Friday around 8 o’clock and we were seated quickly and waited around 10 minutes before they took our order. The personal was quite lovely and humorous, which added a good vibe.
Overall, the price you pay for the food, service and vibe, is in my...
