While staying in Mallorca (El Arenal), my boyfriend and I booked reservations at a place called Casa Du Pulpo (or so we thought). When you search this restaurant on Google maps 2 locations appear - not because there are two locations but because Tasca Gallega appears as a ‘casa du pulpo’ which translates to “octopus house”. Mistakenly, him and I went to Tasca Gallega thinking this is where we had our reservations however, our table was booked at a place called ‘Pazo Du Pulpo’. Not their fault! When we arrived we were very confused and asked the restaurant staff for help. My boyfriend went inside the restaurant and asked if we were in the right spot, unfortunately we are not fluent in Spanish and did not understand her response. We then asked the waiter outside for help, he was extremely rude, and when we asked if we could eat at their restaurant instead, he told us he had no tables when there were clearly many available inside. The tone he used was very dismissive, many of the customers seated were staring at us, it was very uncomfortable. I would say the negative reviewers regarding customer service are very accurate, we got this feeling after 5 minutes of being there - not even as customers. It felt like he didn’t care for our business at all, so we left. Pazo Du Pulpo is fantastic, go there instead!
Also, a business owner who feels the need to argue with their customers about bad reviews on google, speaks volumes. Rather than taking the feedback and improving their service, they choose to be confrontational. I’m never one to actually review but this needed to be said. Save yourself the frustration, go...
Read moreThe worst service we have ever received. Upon sitting down and being brought bread, aioli and olives, my partner asked if she could have some olive oil to dip the bread in, as she is vegan and doesn't eat aioli. The waitress, in a very condescending tone, told us "you are not allowed, you can have it only if you order salad" despite it sitting in table caddies that any other restaurant happily provides. Thinking maybe she misunderstood, we tried to explain that we'd just like a small amount of oil. She nods, grabs the oil, walks back to our table, slams it down and said "this is oil, you cannot have it, you didn't order a salad. If you want it, you pay for it" then made a point of snatching it back up and walking away without another word. (at no stage did we say we wanted FREE oil, yet any other restaurant provides it complimentary anyway) rather than politely explaining that there was a surcharge for oil, she belittled us and treated us in the most impolite way I've ever experienced. The woman I'm referring to is a slightly larger woman with wavy brown hair pulled back. We were absolutely disgusted by her attitude and demeanor. Please teach your staff the value of manners and tact. For a surcharge of 1.50euro PER PERSON for bread, you think you could spare some olive oil anyway, or at least some manners. We left the restaurant instead of ordering meals. Today you lost a group of paying customers because of rude staff. Hopefully you can improve...
Read moreFantastic food and one of the best quality/price ratio I have ever seen. Even though attracted by the pulpo we decided to go for the menu del dia. Today’s choice was 1 out of 4 options for a starter, 1 out of 3 options for main (fish, poultry or beef) and 1 out of 5 options for desert.. We both started with the gazpacho which was fantastic. The additional watermelon gave just that extra twist ! For mains it was the entrecôte and the tiras de pollo a la plancha. One with fresh patatas and one with crispy fresh salad. As a desert we had an icecream and vanilla cake with crema catalana. This was the best but the second best is yet to come. This fantastic 3-course menu is served for €12,50 and that includes a drink of your choice., Bread, olives and aioli. Don’t be fooled by the location as it is not a prime spot ! The food is all that counts. The owner is a true host who shared a last shot with us before we...
