Restaurante Japonés Kyoto — Restaurant in Málaga

initially I wrote a good review about this place when I visited them the first time but then came the second time.

UPDATE: It’s never too late to make a bad second impression. After our first successful visit I was looking forward to eating here. The hostess, as pleasant and friendly as last time was the only common denominator with the last visit, from there it got sour.

We were served the wrong food twice and when the right food finally came, it was in 10-15 minutes intervals until all 4 of us were served. By the time the fourth dish was served the first was already finished.

I had the sushi, salmon Nigeri and Maki and when I got the Maki, 3 of the six pieces were split wide open. I complained about the open Maki but the hostess insisted it was fine until I mind something under my breathy and she finally offered to change it. How does something like that even leave the kitchen?!The seaweed wrap was soggy and chewy. I tried several of the others Maki and they were equally soggy and bad. If I wanted chewy and poorly presented sushi I could make it myself at home.

My wife who hates arguing at restaurants was embarrassed so I just said nevermind and remained quiet for the rest of the dinner. By far the worst 80 Euro spent in a long time and won't be setting foot there again.

The gyudon and katsu bowls were extremely salty. We added a lot of green tea to dilute it. The chicken teriyaki bento box was ok - included lots of food for the price. The prices of sushi rolls were very high, especially when factoring in the Canadian-Euro exchange rate, though the unagi roll was the best tasting item that we ordered.

They got us on the tea. We all wanted tea, but didn't see it listed of the menu or the price. They brought us all our own pots at 4 euro each. It was a cheap jasmine tea, which isn't Japanese in origin (it's Chinese). We would have preferred having 1 tea pot and 3 cups, not 3 tea pots to charge...

As soon as I walked in the door...the smell of food hit me so hard I started drooling. It atmosphere was astronomical and the music was calming. I ordered Ramen, the Sashimi boat, and Gyoza. The sashimi was so fresh and filled me with joy. The Gyoza was crisp to perfection. The ramen.....let me tell you it looked amazing and I teared up on the first bite.
