Sirloin Steak with Pepper Sauce €19.00

Finally a place that is at least a 4 stars in Spain! This is a small homely restaurant that is a little bit on the secluded corner (we were a little afraid upon walking to this area) but I'm glad we found it. After our research on Google maps, we realised that this place is known for a few things - their beef and roasted pig (need preorder apparently). We went ahead to order their housemade pepper sauce sirloin steak, which was good! The sauce is not black pepper sauce. It had a beige base with black pepper balls and was extremely salty, but it paired very very well with the salted tender beef. Another thing to note is that I usually don't like bell peppers, but this bell peppers didn't have a very strong chilli skin taste and it gave another dimension when eaten with the beef!! And if you thought that was all, you're wrong. The fries were probably handmade, as they didn't taste like anything you could get from the supermarket (or probably they had a special supplier) because I have not tasted fries like that. As aptly pointed out by my sister, the fries did have a hint of hashbrowns, and that's maybe why I like it so much. One thing I also want to point out is that this place has excellent service! They were friendly and also offered us complimentary appetizers and desserts, though not the best. For appetizers, they gave us this potato with cheese and bacon croquette. It was pretty good, just that it didn't seem freshly fried. The cheesiness of the potato wasn't overwhelming, which is good, and the bacon bits gave bits of flavour! The bread however, was SO HARD and cold. Like literally, I used my knuckles to knock against the bread and it couldn't even break. The inside of the bread was also cold. That was a total miss, but it's free so I shouldn't complain. Lastly was the desserts - dark chocolate coating with vanilla ice cream. It's a very meh ice cream. Chocolate was not the extremely cheap kind like cornetto, but neither was it expensive like magnum. The ice cream also had a strong cheap milky taste to it. But again, it's free, so no...

Hoy, lamentablemente,...

Had a great experience for dinner tonight. A short walk into the neighborhood, a hidden gem. The server was pleasant and attentive and the atmosphere in the restaurant room was so nice and decorated comfortably (even family pictures on the walls). We had delicious wine and my husband had pork sirloin con queso and he ADORED it. I enjoyed my setas empanadas (breaded & fried mushroom caps) but the sauce with it was the highlight. Yum! I had white asparagus salad with salmon. I thoroughly enjoyed the salmon but I'm not sure I like the big, canned white asparagus. Maybe they are an acquired taste? All in all, we will return if back in the area. Oh and I can't forget to mention that we were surprised with mini chocolate covered ice cream bites to finish off our dinner! Definitely a place...

¿Qué no me gustó? Satisfechos 100%, rotundamente recomendable. Repetiremos, sin duda alguna. Muchas Gracias. Hasta pronto.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I enjoyed a Friday evening meal with my partner at this restaurant and will definitely be going back. The Pulpo a la Gallega was one of the best I have eaten in Madrid. The waiter was super friendly and welcoming. This restaurant has a relaxing environment and is a great choice for a meal with friends or family.
