To start with the positive, the restaurant is in a great location on top of the cliff with great sea view. The food is ok, but not more. We were there twice, ordered fish and grilled octopus the first time: the fish was good, the octopus looked good but it was too hard. The second time we ordered the tapas platter for 2 for 34 EUR, which was a bad decision. Most were greasy fried seafood and croquettes, mushy fries carelessly smothered in very spicy chili mayonnaise, plus a bit of cheese and a few slices of very cheap raw ham. The tapas platter is definitely only for fans of junk food. The very worst in the restaurant are the (ladies´) toilets. There are 2 ladies’ toilets: one has a broken cistern, so you can´t flush, but that obviously didn´t stop many ladies from using it for big deals anyway, until it was full to the brim. You can imagine the smell. In the second toilet, the light does not work and as the toilets are in a dark corner, this toilet can only be used with the door open. I preferred not to pee. On the second visit, several days later, I was hoping the toilets had been repaired by now. It wasn't the case. The toilets were in the same disastrous state. You don't want to imagine what it looks like in the kitchen. On the second visit, bread and aioli were placed on the table without being asked. We said we didn't order it, but the waiter told us it was free. Nevertheless, we had the bread on the bill at the end. This is...
Read moreAfter a few hours of flying and driving to Porto Cristo, we stumbled upon this gem of a beach bar and restaurant, SA CALA Beach, and it did not disappoint. 10/10 experience!
Our server, Alonso, was nothing short of amazing. He was incredibly friendly and made perfect recommendations. Even when we initially over-ordered, Alonso thoughtfully adjusted our order so we could sample a variety of dishes without being overwhelmed. It turned out perfect!
The food was exquisite, the view of the water was breathtaking, and the service was top-notch. Don't miss out on their ice cream for dessert – it's a must-try!
Having visited three countries on this trip, I can confidently say this was the best dining experience. I will definitely be back and highly recommend SA CALA Beach Restaurant to anyone...
Read morePainfully slow service, bang average food and only cash accepted. We went here for lunch in August and were seated immediately on arrival. It was a scorching hot day and our kids were extremely thirsty. They then left us alone for 15 minutes before finally bringing the menus. We were absolutely boiling and we had to watch the staff chatting, laughing and joking with each other while we waited. They really took their time. When the drinks finally arrived we ordered the food and again it took an age to arrive. We didn't eat half of it as it was seriously lacking in flavour. I can understand service being a bit slow during the peak hours but this was 4 in the afternoon. They need more staff and the staff need to stop messing about. Not great that they don't accept...
