Maurya Indian restaurant San Pedro de Alcantara — Restaurant in Marbella

Disappointed! Heard great things about this new restaurant but it turned out to be a "mixed bag" evening. The restaurants appearance and service were first class and everything, including the wine is reasonably priced. We started with poppadoms and chutneys, which were great and then followed with the sharing platter - which again was lovely (the chicken pakoras were to die for). Unfortunately the main course was a major disppointment! We ordered Lamb Rogan Josh (which is my default setting for all new Indian restaurants I visit). It was awful! The meat was tough and chewy so it had either been over cooked or was mutton rather than lamb. The sauce was so salty it was almost inedible. All in all, a rather disappointing finish to what should have been a lovely evening. I hope this was a one off and I will go back to give the place another chance but they are definitely going to have to...

Outstanding Flavours First visit 22/01/25 and we will definitely be returning. Food, wine and service were outstanding. We had popadoms, onion bhaji’s, chicken pakora, chicken bhuna, chicken jalfrezi, rice & nan. Each dish was cooked perfectly and bursting with beautiful authentic spices making it a mouth watering experience. Service was spot on and everything greeted with a friendly smile from Kathy the owner who took time to have a chat with us. What a find!! We came to San Pedro for more like an adventure diner and see what it looks like. We have a place in Porto Banus and love to explore new places. We love an Indian food and The only Indian in the port now is unfortunately completely rubbish. Do we were so so pleased so see an nice Indian restaurant around and it was really a great experience! Food was great!! Curry’s very tasty and children food like they like..! Staff so nice and friendly and we were surprised with a low bill as well. Definitely worth the trip and the experience!
