Restaurante EME de Miguel - Bistró & Gourmet — Restaurant in Marbella

I just want to clarify that the 2 stars is due to the appalling service we received. The two courses we had were lovely and thoroughly deserved 5 stars. So after being tempted in by the owner and listening to how good his meat was and that he has a great variety of dishes, we were left to look at the menu, under the pasta dishes, the spaghetti pil pil jumped out and my partner fancied the Iberian pork. When the owner came to take our order he didn’t look impressed that we had ordered something other than the beef he was trying to over sell. Anyway my partner then asked for an ash tray as we was sitting outside on a lovely evening. No ash tray ever came despite us asking the owner again, instead he paid more attention to a few locals he seemed to know who wasn’t even dining with him! Our meals came up and both were lovely and hot and tasty so again the food was lovely, but after we finished someone in a black shirt got our empty plates and that was it. No asking if we wanted another drink or offering the desert menu, nothing. Instead after sitting at the table for a further 20 minutes watching every other table being attended to by both the owner and black shirt man, we had enough and went in to pay the bill seeing as no one could be bothered to attend to us. I honestly don’t know why we was being treated any differently to other tables. Was it because we are English and some people don’t like us, or was it because we was a couple and the black shirt waiter kept lingering over a single female on a nearby table? My wife, five kids and I visited Miguel and his wonderful team twice during our 10 day stay in San Pedro. After all the places we visited in San Pedro, Marbella, Puerto Banus, and Estepona, we decided our best all-round experience was with Miguel and so we chose to visit a second time and for the last meal of our holiday.

The restaurant is brilliantly located on the main street towards the old town just up from the Boulevard. We received a warm welcome and excellent service throughout. Portion sizes were perfect, the food was simply stunning, and the service itself from Miguel's partner and wife on the first visit and an excellent waitress on the second visit. Everyone was brilliant with the kids, who thoroughly enjoyed their food and time here too.

During our visits, we had the Iberico Burger, grilled fish of the day (served with perfectly wok-cooked vegetables), spaghetti Bolognese (the Bolognese sauce was sooooo delicious), pesto penne, and tuna steaks (I've eaten tuna all over the world, but this one out-classed them all - cooked and seasoned perfectly). The fries they serve here are heavenly too.

I can't recommend EME de Miguel Bistro highly enough. It's a rounded experience with a hands-on owner who clearly cares a lot about high quality service, to serve high quality food, framed on an interesting menu, in a great environment, served at great prices. 12/02/‘18 we had a lunch at De Miguel, San Pedro de Alcántara. We ordered a bottle of wine for which we had to wait nearly half an hour. We ordered our food, almejas and a tartar atun de barbate which nearly took another half an hour. We asked for some aceitunas to still our hunger. Finally nearly an hour further the almejas and tartar were being served. Almejas far too much salt, I make them better, and the tartar on a bed of avocado was rather the other way around and not very tasty. We complained about the almejas and were offered a new portion but after half an hour waiting still no almejas and we just gave up. Bad service, the owner running up and down but never came to the table to inquire or at least apologize. Had to pay € 46,00 for a lousy meager lunch and the only memory left was the good wine, K- Naia, € 16,00. What a terrible disappointment! I am still hungry and frustrated knowing for that money I could have a lovely lunch elsewhere, with a wonderful service as well. Will tell my friends here or visiting never to go there.
