We arrived at 8:15pm for our 8:30pm booking and was told a big group of 11 guests was still having their amuse bouche at the kitchen so we had to wait our turn. While waiting two separate staffs apologised for the wait and asked if we wanted aperitif so we agreed to two glasses of champagne (which they billed us for later).
Finally at 8:30pm they told us they're ready and brought us in to the kitchen, only that the chef was totally not ready and still busy putting our amuse bouche together. After standing there for 15 minutes the food was finally ready but then the chef introduced one course to contain mushroom. We're surprised since we made it clear one of us does not eat mushrooms, squid, and octopus when making the reservation, and no one checked with us for food allergies before we were served food - a very standard procedure especially for michelin-starred restaurants. When I asked the chef he seemed clueless and had to go ask other chefs, then he just served me the rest of the amuse bouche without that course. I asked someone who I believe is the manager and he got very defensive saying they are aware of our food allergies and that "the whole team had been briefed before dinner service". Odd how he chose to raise his voice at me as if it was my fault?! He didn't have an answer as to why that chef obviously didn't know and just stormed off to yell to him. You would think as a manager at a Michelin-starred restaurant reining in one's temper is a minimum requirement.
When we sat down, another round of amuse bouche came and this time one of them contained squid... We were just flabbergasted. Asking them again the server argued this was "ink squid" and that it was not squid. We just got tired of arguing and I gave my dish to my husband.
The rest of the food was ok but not amazing especially considering it's supposed to be a two star establishment - nothing really shined through. Maybe we were prejudiced by the unhappy start to the meal who knows. I've never had to argue with staff at a michelin starred restaurant before.
Overall, lousy experience with average food priced above-average paired with abysmal service. Worst Michelin restaurant I've been to among the over 300...
Read moreWe chose the chef’s tasting menu with the wine pairing. The opening non-alcoholic aperitif and snack in the separate wine room was a nice touch. Then we moved into the chef’s kitchen where you stand at an island and are presented with another set of appetizers. They were mushroom themed with plenty of shaved truffle varieties. Also a unique part of the experience as this happens before you are seated at your actual table. The courses and pairings are served at well timed intervals. Positives: filling meal, amuse bouche was 5 or 6 bites, dishes really intimated art and were delicious, wine pairing had a wide range of Spanish varietals. Cons: Upon being seated we told the server of a shrimp allergy and he repeated each 3 subsequent visits to the table that this should’ve been communicated prior; we understood this and said we could’ve gone the a la carte route if modifications could not be made. Instead the chefs were able to accommodate, but the server kept reiterating how we should’ve let them know - reinforcing a feeling of guilt. After the bread course and crumbs were quite literally all over the table, the restaurant did not remove these (despite having asked) until before the dessert course. Attentiveness seemed to taper off toward the end of the meal as the staff could be seen chatting amongst themselves. Overall the food was incredible, presentation was stunning, and it’s...

We were in town for the weekend visting some friends and went here having searched Google Local for somewhere in the area with good reviews. Interestingly the most recent review states the service 'was awful' but we chose to ignore it as all the others were so positive.
Unfortunately, we experienced the same. Skina presents itself as a fine dining restaurant which is absolutely fine, but it most definitely does not have the customer service to match.
We arrived and were presented with a a very limited fixed menu option. Given 1 of our party had allergies and 1 other did not want a full dinner we asked if they could so something different/smaller for 2 of our 6 person party. Not only did they refuse but were then rude to the point of swearing (!?) at us when we said we would have our drink and leave as it wasn't suitable for all our party. They were clearly upset at losing a 6 person table and proceeded to tell us to drink up and move on quickly, even after they'd charged us a ridiculous amount as a cover charge when we hadn't even eaten anything! Their whole attitude was just so amazingly shocking and wrong, I felt compelled to write a very detailed review to make...
