We ended up at dales steak house as a result of its high rating ordering a 700g steak to share and a salmon.
Shortly after the waiter came back presenting the steak for us to approve which we did.
When the food arrived however it was obvious to anyone that the steak was not remotely close to that of a 700g steak and the salmon which was also a main dish was no larger than a small childs hand.
As a chef myself I know how a 700 gram steak looks like after its been prepared and this was at best 200 grams. A steak doesnt lose over 2/3 of its weight from cooking!
This was nothing more than a blatant attempt at trying to rip us off!
We asked the waiter where the rest of the food was because with a combined asking price of more than 80 euros this was not acceptable - more than half the steak was missing and the salmon being a main dish could not even fill the stomach of a child.
They argued that the side dish of the salmon was making up for the small portion size of the fish itself and that the bone of the steak is where the rest of the steak was. First and foremost the bone doesnt take up that large a part of the total weight which suggests they cut the steak in half after showing it to us. Even if the bone did take up 2/3 of the total weight you dont ask guest to pay 63 euros for a 700 gram steak and then serve less than half of its weight while still expecting the customer to pay full price. Secondly the salmon is the center piece of the menu as and such is what is supposed to be the main - not the side dish.
For reference look at the pictures! the salmon is untouched yet the lemon which is a small slice, is a quarter of the size of the fish and the steak, well look at it. does that look like a 700 gram steak ?
And for more reference lets look at how a real 700g steak looks like compared to what dales stake house decided to serve. the last picture is a 700 gram steak servered at a different restaurant!
Refused to pay and left without touching the food! Not coming back. Ever.
TLDR: tried to rip us off - left...
Read moreDale is a phenomenal steakhouse with excellent hospitality. My friends and I had a fantastic 3 hour lunch at Dale. Each dish was delicious with high quality ingredients. The portions were generous and the prices were unbeatable for what you’re getting. One friend and I had their calçots fixed menu. It came with house made sausages, a large portion of calçots with one of the best romesco sauces I had ever tried. Then the meal ended with a large dry aged ribeye steak that was grilled to perfection. We ordered a bottle of Samsara Priorat that was delicious and also very reasonably priced. Another friend doesn’t love red meat so she ordered the Festival de Mar and each dish was lovely as well. It’s not often that a steakhouse does seafood well but Dale’s seafood was great. Finally, the two desserts we ordered were wonderful as well. A warm crispy donut topped with macadamia ice cream was beautiful and the cheesecake was light and creamy.
Aside from great service, the server and chef were both so kind and friendly. My friends had their 1 year old with them and they all treated her so well despite the expected challenges that come with hosting a baby in a restaurant. I can’t wait to go back to try the dry aged...
