We came here May 2, 2024 during our Camino because a friend highly recommended it. We got seated right away. When our drink order was taken finally, I asked for a glass of ice for my coke. A small short waitress with short dark hair was taking the drink order. She rolled her eyes at me when I asked for the glass of ice (in Spanish) and she then never came back to care for us. A second waitress took over our care. We gave her our order which included a ration of pulpo (the WHOLE reason we came here) and a ration of pimientos de Padron. I saw her write the order down on her tiny spiral flip note pad and it was correct. After about 20 minutes, she came with my spouses order (something other than the two items I already mentioned) but no pulpo or peppers. We saw our waitress bring orders of pulpo to at least 10 other people that came in long after we did, but still we got no pulpo or peppers. We attempted over and over for the next 45 minutes to flag our waitress down and ask her about our order. She repeatedly ignored us. Finally, I typed a whole conversation in google translate and walked up to her and had her read it. We waitrd for OVER ONE HOUR to get our pulpo and never got our peppers, no explanation even. They also charged us for a salad that we did not order but were given and told it came with my spouse’s meal, which was not the case. All in all it was the rudest most neglectful service I have ever received. There are other places that serve pulpo that is just as good or better and the service is...
Read moreI would not recommend this as a place to take young children. When I visited with my partner's family on 22/8/22, it was busy, very loud and incredibly hot (no fans, no air conditioning) and the bench seating was uncomfortable to sit on for a prolonged period. We also had to set up our table ourselves as the bench seating was upturned and placed on the table, and there was nowhere else to sit.
We were left unattended by the waiters/waitresses throughout our meal, as one of our group was a former Pulpería Ezequiel employee and they just left her to serve our table, despite that she was there as a paying guest, which I found to be unacceptable.
My 4-year-old son was quickly bored as there was nothing especially interesting to see or do where we were sat (near the exit at the back of the restaurant) and I did not see any kid-friendly activities on offer, which other restaurants often do. Thankfully I brought him his own toys and games to keep him occupied, but after 1.5 hours he had had enough, and so I left the rest of the family and took the 2 young children out for a walk. It was a good decision as there was a wonderful breeze outside and we were able to walk to a nearby shop for drinks and desserts, which we had been unable to get in the restaurant due to the lack of service from the waiting staff.
Due to the above issues, I would not be keen to return here unfortunately, despite the food I ordered being a decent price and cooked to a...
Read moreWe were exhausted after the grueling Palais de Rei to Arzua Camino hike, but we were determined to find a good place to eat. We had heard good things about Pulperia Ezequiel, so we decided to give it a try.
The restaurant was located in a small town called Melide, which is known for its pulpo (octopus). We ordered the Langostinos (prawns), Pulpos (octopus), and Gambas (shrimp), and we were not disappointed. The seafood was fresh and cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous.
The service was also excellent(thanks Jomari!). The staff was friendly and attentive, and they were happy to answer our questions about the food. We would definitely recommend Pulperia Ezequiel to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Galician meal.
The Langostinos were grilled to perfection and served with a garlicky sauce. The Pulpos were tender and flavorful, and they were cooked in a traditional Galician style. The Gambas were juicy and succulent, and they were served (I think!) with a simple lemon butter sauce.
In addition to the food, we also enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was a simple, rustic space, but it was warm and inviting. We felt like we were truly experiencing Galician culture.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Pulperia Ezequiel. It was the perfect way to refuel after our long hike, and we would definitely...
