It is always difficult to review a place that could potentially be very good. With Rocca there is a lot more to be desired. Arriving, not having booked a table, was pleasant, we had a warm welcome and were shown to our table. As a pre dinner drink we had a vodka martini which tasted flat, as if it was watered down with a generous amount of one olive. Not the best start. The bread and olive oil were fantastic, so was our starter, sweet breads and black pudding. The problem then started with the main. Entrecôte medium rare with grilled vegetables and fries and grilled lamb chops. Unfortunately when those dishes arrived, we were left very disappointed. The steak was completely overcooked, grey and tough. The friendly waiter took it back and after 10 minutes brought a new one which on first glance looked much better. Sadly it wasn’t. Although cooked medium rare, the cut was so tough and grisly that it turned out to be inedible. Entrecôte usually has beautiful marbling and although not comparable with a buttery filet, it should still be soft and the fat should add to the taste. This was not the case. The lamb chops were ok, but with a heftier price tag just not enough. So unfortunately we were let down on our date night and on top of that, food was wasted. If the business is focused on steak and grilled goods and you’re expecting your customers to pay higher end prices, the quality of the cuts has to be good. For us, this was not it.. I gave 3 stars because of the starters, the service and the ambience of the restaurant. For the mains alone...
Read moreRocca is an Argentinian restaurant located on Calle Libra in Riviera del Sol, and it has been in operation for twelve years. The menu prominently features 360-gram and 200-gram cuts of bife de chorizo, solomillo, entañada, and encrecote, along with options for lamb and pork. Prices range from 29 to 45 euros.
The bife de chorizo (32 euros) was perfectly cooked—juicy on the inside with a crisp exterior and a small strip of fat that added flavor. The dulce de leche crepe (8.50 euros) was indulgent, served with a side of cream and vanilla ice cream.
Rocca like a handful of restaurants in Mijas, particularly those with a more formal or upscale setting, charges a "cover" or "cubierto" (Spanish for "cover"), which is a fixed fee of 2.90 Euros per person, added to the bill, to cover the cost of bread, olives and other items.
The only areas that could use improvement is the speed of order taking, and seating. We waited ten minutes to be seated although we had a reservation. The order taking took an additional fifteen minutes given the food orders were being taken by one staff member. The service is friendly and warm, but at times aloof.
If you are after a very good piece of steak and do not mind premium prices and friendly, but inconsistent service, Rocca Grill...
Read moreA must eat kind of restaurant. Its a nice small argentinian restaurant in mijas but the poeple are super friendly en the food is to die for! We had different pieces of meat on the table and different desserts and everything was just so tastfull i loved it from the first bite. Personaly i had the rib eye medium rare and i think it was the best one i have ever had ( and im a biiiiiig meat guy). The texture was great definitly quality meat, the preperation perfect and the flavour it had was unlike anything ive ever had. For desert the cheesecake wich was also something from another level for me but in all honesty it was the first time i had cheesecake in spain. Dont let that little fact fool you because im verry picky with my foods.
