We were staying with my Dad in nearby Gandia but drove through Oliva one day on our way to a sightseeing trip in Javea/Xabia. We noticed there was a huge play area for kids so we decided to go back one evening to let our son let off some steam. Now my son is only 4 but he also loves eating out in restaurants so we set out to find a good place for all 3 generations.
When we walked in to El Lloc it looked a bit "fancy" for a 4 year old, but it was a nice level of casual. The waiter spoke English, and possibly a couple of other languages too.
My Dad, being in the Spanish routine doesn't eat too much in the evenings while my husband wanted a big meal with plenty of fish.
We ordered calimari and chips for our son (yes, he's a strange 4 year old!) which was delicious. The chips were almost like "chippy chips" and the calimari was cooked well and seemed very fresh, so he was happy!
My husband was also very happy with his seafood pasta (though he did have to share it with our son) and I enjoyed lasagne, while my Dad polished off his plate of spaghetti Bolognese. Four happy campers - if only we had enough space for dessert!
The whole menu looked great, it took me a long time to choose. I chose the safe option of lasagne as I'm pregnant and food hasn't been my friend recently. I can't wait to go back and try more...
Read moreDifficult to rate this place. Haven't been years and it was a somewhat reluctant choice - but not a lot of choice as many Oliva rtes shut first week of September after the August holiday makers have departed, and as a group of 9 we had to sit outside with Covid rules at that time. On the face of it a very cheap menu at 10€, but charging 9.50 for house wine soon increases the price. For the price the food is acceptable, the drawback was the service which was very slow. The waiting staff were clearly rushed off their feet, simply not enough of them. Whether that was bad luck or management policy, I don’t know. When we were asked for meal choices - a very limited choice- our waitress refused to take our drinks order at the same time, so it all got awfully drawn out. The food struck me as very bland - I had spaghetti which was well cooked but the sauce was distinctly unexciting. Despite the pressure the staff were under, our server was upbeat and friendly which was a definite plus. Would we...
Read moreJust enjoyed one of the best seafood Spaghettis ever, full full of large and small prawns, mussels, squid etc. Also Available in a creamy sauce i opted for the tomato based sauce which was subtle and complimented the seafood well. All for 9.95
My friends had pizzas and a burger, all of which were well prepared.
Service is friendly and they do have enough knowledge of English for those who cannot speak Spanish. The downside is you do get charged for little things like peanuts, otherwise highly recommend.
Four if us with drinks and meal 57.30...
